New to Keto...question on metrics

(Niki) #1

Hi Everyone! I’m in my second week of Keto and I fell awesome! Had the keto flu…which sucked but overall I am very happy. My question is…I have been using the keto app to keep track of my intake. Dotson is becoming a bit of a problem. I always go over by 1-3g of protein. I am alway within the calories and the net carbs. And the fat bit can never keep on the protien. How many of you worry about this as well!

I wouldn’t worry about going over on protein. Better to be over than under. 1-3g is nothing.

??

Hi there and welcome. Going over 1-3 g of protein is no biggie. If you’re staying under 20 g of carbs per day it’s an excellent place to start. Is the app telling you how many calories to eat? And what does it say? If you’re interested in increasing your fat but not increasing protein look at things like added oil, mayo, etc.

Exactly this. In the beginning, as long as you’re under 20g carbs, everything else is just ballpark.

Damyean Da’Kethe Dotson (born May 6, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected with the 44th pick of the 2017 NBA draft by the Knicks.

That’s nothing. Stop stressing yourself out

Ha ha, on day one I was about 100g over on protein. Day 2 about 50g under. All over the place. Still got into keto land.

As others have said nail the 20g carbs and you should be okay with the rest.

More than half the 20g should be veggetables (not sure what percentage of people here adhere to that, I do, but that’s the text book way to go).

It says I can have 23 g of carbs but I’ve been keeping it st 20 or less. It also says I should have 1800 calories but I’ve been more like 1500.

The difference of 3g is nothing, you’re doing fine.
