A little more info, here, let me prompt you😉
What are you eating? Names of the foods, like bacon, eggs, steak, apples, orange juice (see where I’m going with that)
Are you measuring how much protein you are eating?
How many carbs are you getting. What’s your expected limit, how well are you hitting that?
What times are you eating? How many meals a day? How many snacks or sweetened drinks? artificial sweetener counts as a sweetened drink.
Medical issues? Are you a diabetic? If not, when was the last time you had your HBa1c checked. If you don’t know, you REALLY need to. Hang out on this forum for just a little while, you will have your mind blown.
Don’t give up. I’m a Type 2 diabetic. I started Keto to manage my blood sugar. A side effect of that was losing 40 pounds in 2 weeks. That’s not a typo. That’s real. Talk about feeling great.
This week I have been eating.
Bacon
Quorn Pieces
Green Veg
Chicken Thighs
Salad
Tofu
Sausages
Tuna
Cheese
Cooked Meats - Salami etc
I havent been tracking until today
I am aiming for 20g carbs or less
I eat breakfast around 9.30am
I eat lunch when I am hungry been around 2/3pm
Try and eat my dinner around 6.30pm
I am borderline diabetic. I was put on Metformin to reduce my blood sugar my HB was done around 8 months ago and was at a good level.
Whenever you change your diet you’ll probably see a change in weight relatively quickly. Usually on keto this is weight lost, but sometimes it can be weight gained too. This quick change is all due to water weight, so in that sense it’s not something you should worry about going regardless of which way it’s going. In fact, if you lose too much that’s usually when you see the flu like symptoms as they can be caused by mild dehydration and I would argue it’s preferable to avoid that.
If for whatever reason your body has decided to hold on to more water than usual then it’s possible you could see a quick weight loss in a week or two. It’s also possible you’ll just get to whatever new weight your body thinks you should have on the new diet then start to lose slowly from there as you get rid of your body fat.
In any case, one week is nothing in diet terms. I’m your size and age, just lighter now (122kg, starter around 160kg) and my weight varies by 5kg, sometimes more, within a week. It takes me about a month of tracking to suss out the true rate of weight loss because of those variations.
So basically, keep calm and keto on. As long as you’re confident you’re doing things right you don’t have to worry until it’s been two-three weeks without results. That’s when you can start looking more closely at the details to see if there’s a specific problem you can try to fix.
I never heard of Quorn before. I had to look it up. Now, full disclosure, I’m not a doctor or a nutritionist. Not any kind of food expert. I troubleshoot electronics and computer, and various other hardware. With that in mind, I tend to notice things.
I noticed that the nutrition label for quorn seems off.
One serving is 85 grams, but the total weight for the 3 macros is only 22? Leaving 63 grams, about thrice the weight of the nutrition in the thing. I would suspect something really odd about that. I suppose it could be water. Is this something like tofu? Like a sponge full of water? If it’s dry, and not extremely moist like tofu, I’d stay away from it unless I could figure out where 3/4’s of its weight is coming from.
You may want to eliminate the quorn and the tofu. The quorn can have a lot of added ingredients such as glutens, colorings, and starches. Tofu and other soy based products may have an estrogenic effect on the body. Try eliminating those 2 items and see what happens.
Hi,
Drop the quorn & tofu. Replace this with real fatty meat.
Watch the carbs in sausages, the fillers can be quite carby.
I put on weight my first month of keto as my body adapted but have since lost over 30kg / 5 stone.
Make sure you are using a online macro calculator like www.fatsecret.com or myfitnesspal. Makes your life so much easier and if you get the brands right will identify hidden carbs.
OMG DROP THE TOFU, No tofu or quorn no wonder thats what causing the weight gain!
listen too Tmdlkwd
Good luck !
Read the ingredients for your sausage and make sure there is no sugar in it. Sugar goes by many names. Sausage is notoriously sneaky.
Quorn very questionable product. So ditto… no quorn or tofu, too many carbs.
