Hello there!
I am very new to keto, but started to quest of diet restrictions for health and weight loss about 6 months ago.
I decided to start keto because I have some health concerns that I wanted to get under control. Recently, I found out I was allergic to pork and had a severe gluten intolerance, having falsely been told i had IBS for years!!
Here’s my issue…I haven’t lost any weight!!! And I can’t seem to get my protein lower, maybe why I haven’t lost weight. Can someone point me in the right direction??
Thank you!!!
New to keto but not to diet restrictions
When in doubt or in a stubborn stall, try a 36-hour fast. And then when you’re up for it try a 48 and even a 72. These will assure you that weight will be lost. Just read up a bit more on EF. When doing keto I feel really good and will trickle off a bit of weight. Now that I am fat adopted, weight rolls off me when I fast — particularly water fasting. Check it out.
Hi Stacey
You haven’t really provided any information to which we can help you?
How long have you been keto?
What do your macros look like?
What is your starting weight?
Do you have any metabolic damage?
You won’t get many people here trying to pry the information out of you so if you don’t include it to begin with, you won’t get many replies.
Let us know the following and we will see if we can help you!
Would be good to know what a typical day of eating is for you. That might uncover some sneaky carbs or sugars lurking.
As you say you’re fairly new to keto, so I’d start with upping your fat intake. Fattier cuts of beef, lamb, chicken etc. Add butter, olive oil to leaner cuts, eggs, avocados. I think if you started to add more fats you’d find yourself getting fuller quicker and wouldn’t eat as much protein.
With all due respect to GentleBen’s comment, it might be too soon for you to start fasting as you wouldn’t be fat adapted yet so early on. But it’s definitely something to consider for later down the track.
I tend to agree with ChrisW. And thank you for the response. I definitely am learning how to up my fats. It’s such a different way of eating, but I am enjoying it! I had to give up red meat for health reasons so I won’t get my fat that way, but am increasing the eggs and avocados and ghee. I’m not looking to start fasting at this point but when I lose more, I will definitely incorporate it.
And to answer some questions asked, I have been on keto for about 3 weeks. My starting weight was 204, and I’m only down to 197. 20g carbs, 56g protein, and 132g fat.
