New to keto - because of health issues

#1

Hello,

first I want to introduce myselfe:

I,m nearly 50 and live in Germany
I’m 167 cm and 58-60 kg
I don’t want to lose weight!
I have a 15 yo son.

My way to keto:

It was 5 years ago I skiped my vegan diet.
I was very ill. And so I tried Paleo, Dr. Strunz and low carb.
With low carb I felt better, but it was never consistantly good.
I never be really strict, I was adicted to bread.

I was never really overweighted,
but I was always struggeling with my weigth.
Believe me, most of my life the only thing that I can think of
is beeing hungry.

AND TIRED.

I am now retired, because of my health issues.
I have found the time to read…
And after halloween with lot’s of sweets and baked things
I felt so misserable I decided to start low carb and this time
I wanted to be strict, to see if this would make the difference!
I was reading many blogs and searching for recipes on youtube

And then I found keto!

And this made the surprising difference.
For the first time I feel alive again.
It’s an amazing difference.
I love the food! I love it, I love it…
My sun is so happy too, for he knows his mother only ill and tired.

So this was the good side…
But I don’t say everything is easy!

In the first weeks, I nearly was able
to eat the whole amount I am supposed to.

But now I am struggeling with my hunger again.

I try to be under 20 g of carbs . (Dr. Westman)
That’s fine for me.
But I have problems whith the amount of protein.
I think I shouldn’t eat more than 60-90 g each day.

I eat only fat beef, fat cheese, avocado, butter, ghee, oliveoil.
And eggs, of course.
But then I have still hunger and the protein is to high
and I can’t eat oil without something around…
My eggs are literally swimming in fat.

I had to eat several times a day,
because of my son.
And I wake up hungry.

What’s happened?

I’m still reading and reading,
hoping to find an answer.
I don’t want to give up the benefits of keto!!!

Greetings from Germany
to the whole ketoworld!

Everyone’s keto is a bit different. If you feel better with a bit more protein, and it still works for your well being, then eat more protein. There are a lot of carnivores here, perhaps they can speak to this.

Try adding some coconut oil and heavy whipping cream to your coffee or tea 2-3 times a day. Must be cold in Germany right now, so hot drinks would work well. It’s summer in South Africa! But I still get my warm drinks in a couple of times a day and then an iced coffee with just the cream. Also, what about bone broth with butter in it.

Thank you for answering.
It’s not so cold for winter. But I love hot coffee every time…
Unfortunatelly I can’t eat coconut in any form.
I’ve tried butter in the coffee, (I have no blender, so it’s a bit complicated).
It tasted gorgeous, but I am longing for EATING. I don’t have the feeling of being satisfied after a drink.
But I will try this again, if it had to be so.

If you do not have a blender, a little battery operated milk frother will do the trick and not take up counter space.!

If you are hungry, eat!

Eat more protein and see how you feel.

It’s possible your body is repairing itself from years of damage.
