New to Keto, am I doing this right?

Hi! My name is Jodi and I just turned 47 yesterday…yikes! LOL! I love food! When I was in my 20’s, I gained quite a few pounds so I decided to go totally fat free. Ok, I know now that it was totally the wrong thing to do but that was what was in back then and it worked, I lost about 20-25 lbs and that was without working out because a gym? what was that? So later in my mid 30’s I decided that I needed something else, I needed to get into some sort of shape. Fast forward, I’ve been a group fitness instructor for 17 years now and I’ve never looked back. Granted I’ve managed to stay around the same size, gaining and losing a few pounds here and there but really never felt my best. Now that I’m in my mid 40’s I just felt that I needed to really learn how to feel good…on the inside as well as the outside. I had gained a few pounds around the middle and I was just depressed. I was trying everything until I read about Intermittent Fasting and thought, you know what, I can do this. I’ve found so many articles and videos on You Tube that I was just intrigued about all the health benefits. I have lost around 18 lbs and I’m still doing IF and loving it. Then I found Leann Vogel and keto, along with Dave Asprey and Dr. Mark Hyman…holy cow, talk about so much information, my brain is on overload. I’m trying to learn as much as I can so I know I’m doing it right, feeling good. I also recently found Maria Emmerich and how keto has definitely worked for her whole family. I don’t use test strips to see if i’m in ketosis, I just try to eat the right foods. I do occasionally have a diet soda, pizza, wine, etc. It’s weird though, certain foods that I haven’t eaten in awhile, like peanut butter makes me feel really bad afterwards so I have stayed away and it helps me stay away because I remember how it makes me feel. But there are certain other not so good things that I feel fine after eating but I know I should stay away because of the ingredients. I really wish there were functional doctors where I live because I’d love to go see one so they could run test to see if I’m doing things right. I’m sorry for rambling and probably not making much sense either. I just wonder how many other people who are trying keto, having success and losing weight and feeling better but wondering if they are doing it right? Thanks for sharing your thoughts, successes, advise. I love learning what I can so that I can feel food on the side

I’ve been doing keto since the beginning of this month and I’ve lost 5 pounds. I want to lose more though. I’m also in my 40s.

KCKO
I’ve been keto since August 2016, I’m 60 and I feel as good as I did when I was 19! No BS, for real. I do follow a strict ketogenic diet and have never intentionally cheated. I work at a standing desk 8.5 hours a day. Bought a bike 2 months ago, I ride 15-20 miles a day. My bio markers are great, increased LDL, but not concerned. KCKO
