New on keto and first post here

Hey,

I am new to this forum and have been on keto for 4 weeks now. I started keto last month after I went and got my annual test and found out my glucose fasting was 122 and my triglycerides were at 230. I thought I was eating healthy but I sure wasn’t. I searched the internet and found keto. I read for hours about all the positive testimonials of keto followers and decided to try it. It is overwhelming at times and I am bad at reading labes and deciphering what’s good or not, but I am slowly learning, just because something has less than 1g sugar does not make it ok, if it has the bad sugar alcohol etc.

I have been eating mostly bacon, beef patty, lettuce, kerrygold butter, cauliflower rice, guacamole, chicken, zevia pork rinds, blue almond and Kirkland protein bars.
I am counting my macros and try to be in my limit, yesterday I was out and after work coming home, I had this weird pain my my chest, almost a burning sensation and I am worried about it. I came home and ate dinner and t has seemed to go away.

  1. is this something to be alarmed about?
  2. when should I go back and do my tests again to see if there has been any changes
  3. do you guys test everyday to make sure you are in ketosis
  4. are the foods that I am eating have any long term effect on the heart etc.

We are not Drs so if you are concerned that much call your Dr

  1. Maybe it was heartburn? Has it happened again?
  2. 3 Months if you want a valid A1C number.
  3. I have never tested for ketones in the 1 1/2 years I have been keto. Some test every day, some test once in a while
  4. Except for the protein bar things seem ok. Why are you adding protein to your diet? Also what is in that bar? Lots are loaded with crap. Also watch the almonds. Certain flavors have added carbs.
