New Low Carb Bakery in Sandy Springs Georgia

(Janelle) #1

A new low carb bakery has opened in Sandy Springs, GA. I’m letting you know in case you live nearby and want to try it. Carb counts are net and the cakes and such are gorgeous. However…

My husband brought home two pieces of cake ($12!) and while beautiful, they are full of Swerve sweetener (he asked) and were crunchy and kind of unpleasant in texture. Swerve also leaves a weird cooling sensation for me. I guess also after two months of not having anything sweet, I don’t need it anyway.

So here’s the info - they sell bagels and other low carb stuff. Hubby said the bagels looked a little like those flat hard baby teething rings.

Us Australians are not nearly as lucky to get things like this yet!
Hard pressed finding a Keto cafe, or even a cafe meal, without altering it and paying through the nose!

A mere 6 hour drive for me. Next time I am in Atlanta (and not just a layover at the airport between connecting flights) I might check it out.

However, sweet baked goods are my kryptonite, so I have been assiduously trying to avoid even “keto” versions of them, to permanently break the addiction. I haven’t had anything sweet tasting (except low-carb berries) in over 2 months.

When I am further along, I may try a food or recipe that uses a “safe” sweetener like allulose or erythritol to see if the sweet taste triggers cravings or hunger, but for now I think it’s better for me to avoid completely.

I think you might be better just skipping it. The pieces of cake we tried were not the best approximation of the real thing. The sweetener and “crunchiness” were offputting for me. I do use sweetener in my coffee once a day. I found the cake to be artificially sweet - I guess because it was.

It looks good, the closest place for me like that is Sugarless Delight in Dallas, TX, I reside in Tulsa, OK.
