New Keto follower, first post

Hi there

New to Keto, but have spent since April '17 modifying my eating, I’ve previously been successful using a VLCal medically supervised diet, so I did 6 months of that, working with the medical supervisor to use IF rather than the recommended “eat 6 small meals a day” - lost 90# and reduced my fasting insulin from 36 to 14…
I ended up coming off that regime as I had to go to england to a funeral, and then just generally didn’t get life back organized immediately, followed by a weeks vacation in Hawaii, so ~16 of those pounds have come back, but rather than returning to the VLCal diet, I’ve started Keto today, with the intention of adding back in the IF as soon as I work out if I am going to need to live through the keto-flu or if I am going to be lucky.

I have been having some issues recently with my gallbladder wanting to make itself known - I have had gallstones identified for years at this point, but I’m usually asymptomatic, does anyone know of any studies of whether I’m going to see an improvement, or whether I should start planning when to have my gallbladder removed…?

Happy to be here, thank you for all the amazing information!

Mary

Regarding Keto Flu, start by backing down your consumption of carbs over the next week towards and end of week objective of less then 25g of carbs per day. That will ease your body towards Keto.

Truly, the Keto Flu symptoms are going to be based upon your bodies glucose load based upon consumption. Small steps will get you there easier than a Big Bang.

Thank you so much for the links, I think I am going to talk to my Dr before tackling the gallstone cleanse (and maybe try it with Maleic acid rather than all the carbs in apple juice) but I take Ursodiol and want to make sure I don’t get myself into trouble there, with a cleanse and the drug interacting badly.

Most of the places talking about the gallbladder cleanse discuss what other foods to eat while leading up to the cleanse, has anyone here tried it during an EF? I was wondering whether that would help or hinder the process…

I know someone who used Chinese medicine and acupuncture to get rid of gallstones, they were on significant meds for ms and had no problems.

they also go away on their own.

That is the correct answer - if you are taking meds, then consult before anything significant. Then you’ll need to weigh the risk / rewards to make your decision.

Always collect more information before deciding so you can make an informed decision.
