New in the forum but not in keto

Hello everyone.

I just signed up in the forum because I have always found forums very supportive when I try to lose weight and helps me to be accountable. I went back today to an old forum I used to use, and of course, as soon as said ‘keto’, ppl started with the it-not-healthy crap, so I left the forum and came here.

Long story short. I was doing keto, lost weight, fell off the wagon, and I’ve been struggling to get back on. My problem is candy, I’m always wanting to eat sweets. I started keto yesterday once again but this time I’m focusing more on avoiding sweets than on other things.
Having followed keto for a while, I already know what to eat and how much, so I wont be thinking on my macros as much as getting stronger on not eating sweets, not even the ones with sweetnerns, because in my case, that triggers my cravings for other stuff.
My goal is to get to the first 30 days without any sweets, so I hope I can achieve that goal
Cheers

Jennifer

Welcome to the forum. I hope you find it as helpful and encouraging as I have.

Those sweet cravings are tough, aren’t they? How much weight are you hoping to lose? How long were you strictly keto before?

I’ve found that my cravings have decreased over time, and for that, I am incredibly lucky. I hope the same happens for you!

Good luck! I definitely recommend making sure you eat to full satiety, it may help you with your sweets cravings… Also, try removing all sweet things, caloric or not, for a while. Artificial sweeteners can just keep cravings going.

I had really bad cravings my first couple weeks. Now it’s been a year since I’ve eaten sugar, and the only times I get cravings are when I see photos of delicious desserts, but even then, the it’s more like a memory than a real craving.

500 mg / 3 Times a day of L-Glutamine will kill sweet cravings. Dead.

I do have L-Glutamine, but I don’t know how to consume it. If you can tell me please, I will really appreciate it

The sweet craving are the worst for me. I was doing fine and a week before valentine’s day I said, well, it’s valentine’s day and we will go out an celebrate with chocolate, so, what the heck, I can get back to my diet the next day… I’m still trying to get back on it…
I was keto since October 2017, it took me a while to get the hand of my macros and see what worked for me and what didn’t (and not just follow what everyone else claims). I know it is not a LOT of time, but I was still able to lose like 30 lbs (once I figured out my macros and what was making me stall).
I’m confident that over time, the cravings will disappear, the problem is going cold turkey at the beginning, that’s the hardest part, but I have to stay strong.

I’ve had it as capsules. If you have it loose, probably dissolved in water. I haven’t seen it thus.

Oh boo, I’m sorry :frowning: That must have been a miserable few weeks for you. I’ve been there, where one day turns into 7 and then 14 and then 30… I’m so glad you’re back!

You’re so right to point out that keto is an N = 1 way of life, and I’m impressed that you figured out what worked for you. Last time, did you experience a reduction in your sugar cravings?

How goes it today?
