New 63 YO F, 89 hours into Extended

(Terrie) #1

Hi! New here.

Keto off and on for about 3 years, been off for 6 months approx.

While weight loss would be awesome, mainly doing for healing, have some joint and cartilege pain, mild arthritis, right knee (tore meniscus in the gym last year, still hurts, prevents me from activiities I enjoy) and shoulder pain. Also carb sensitive.

Drinking water and tea, although I’ve have lemon and stevia in my water, also added a sliver of butter and half teaspoon of HWC to my tea twice. And pink salt as needed, although it sends me to the potty.

Sleeping okay, energy seems okay. Not hungry really, just empty feeling.

Meant to start one day earlier (Sat vs Sun) but I caved about 8 pm and ate fast food. Gross. Got back on track though.

Want to stick it out as long as I feel okay. %'6" and 187 today, lost about 5 lbs I think? Scale is a little wonky. Tummy is definately smaller.

Great site

Good luck! Had you been back on keto before you started your fast or did you just jump into it? 89 hours is awesome–I haven’t made it past 48 yet! I’m 67, a little bit older than you. Did you lose weight previously with keto? I have to admit, keto (and losing 40 pounds) has not improved two things I was really hoping for improvement with-- my back(have already had one surgery) and my right foot(ditto).

It’s amazing how much of our life is taken up with food! When I fast, it’s like I don’t know what to do with myself!

Did some research, planned when to start and jumped in. A day later than I planned. Had not been keto, I prefer low carb, but had some desserts, ect the week before.

I’m a little over 4 days right now.

I lost around 70 pounds a couple years ago on keto, it really makes me feel wonderful in all ways. Fell off the wagon about a year ago, got way off a few months ago (new relationship…) Gained 15 pounds in the last few months, ugh!

I hear ya about how much time food takes in my life. I’m not hungry, but taste buds aren’t happy lol. After 4 days I think it’s getting a little easier?

My knee is feeling better than it has in a while, I am optimistic!

111 hours now and I feel great.
Down 7.2 lbs but I know it’s mostly water and that’s not the point anyway.

My shoulder was hurting more than usual last night, sleep can be an issue. I guess that’s healing happening

Today is Day 7, 6 days and 25 hours fasted. Felt really tired last night, and not feeling great today. I may end my fast today.

I had hoped to maybe go 2 to 3 weeks, but that might be unrealistic this time. It was easier than I expected, really didn’t feel hungry, just wanted to taste things sometimes lol. I did have a Diet Coke yesterday, sitting with 2 people eating, I just wanted something besides water. After that I sat between 2 people at the movies eating popcorn. Smelled pretty good, but I kept chugging my water…

Lost between 9 and 11 pounds, though that’s not my goal and much of it is water weight I think. I like fasting, I will do this again.

Was feeling poorly, even after a tsp of pink salt, decided to end my fast tonight.

Started with black olives, I read they were good to end with. I always thought I didnt’ like them, had read that people had 5. I counted out 4. Tasted one. OMG…ambrosia lol. I ate 5 of them. Slowly. Delicious.

I then make a BPT (bulletproof tea). 2 Earl Grey teabags, 1 tbsp grassfed butter, couple tbsp HWC, a splash of MCT and stevia. Drank about half, will have the rest in the morning. I’ve missed it.

A couple hours later (no stomach discomfort) I had a salad with ranch and 4-5 ozs of steak. So good!

Plan is to eat tomorrow, then back to the fast after my last meal. Hope to fast until Friday noon, then eat on the weekends (keto). We’ll see how it goes.

I feel fantastic btw!
