Never hungry

(Laurie) #1

Hi. I’m Laurie and I started Keto 8 weeks ago. I’m 56, 5’7 and 180lbs. I started Keto to get healthier. I have no health issues that I know about. Everything is going great, largely due to this community. I am somewhat worried because I never get hungry. Should be a blessing I know. I struggle to eat and have been been forcing myself to eat to keep my macros in line. I am eating one meal per day largely protein. Normal?

No hunger, no eat… don’t force it. Your body is eating its own fat stores so will be getting what it needs, this is what you want.

Listen to @Shortstuff, she always gives great advice!

Aww thanks @JustPeachy :relaxed:

@Shortstuff It’s just the truth! And it’s always simple, sweet and pleasantly delivered. I don’t know how you do it sometimes.

Slightly different take… Same thing happens to me and I significantly under ate in a day never hitting a “feasting” and remaining basically in a fasted state. This means my metabolism, etc. kept slowing down and old school thinking was to pat myself on the back because I was only eating once a day, and a smallish meal at that.

I very consciously stoke the fire now. I do not force myself to eat. BUT, I have found that if I eat something delicious - like cook the rib eye and eat a piece; the rest disappears. I could and would have just not bothered to cook it because I wasn’t hungry. Now that I am stoking the hunger the appetite does follow and I am much more successful.

I understand the don’t eat if you are not hungry - but if you are like me that would mean seriously low food days and too many of those together just are not good for your engine. If you are not like me  and this only happens a couple times a week then I agree, skip the meal.

Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it.
Since I am only at 8 weeks, I guess I’ll listen to my body more and see what happens.

Good luck. Listen to the podcast. 8 weeks of low eating is a lot. Don’t turn your metabolism against you :):sunglasses:

I did listen to the podcast. Very informative. Thanks for the tip😊

Laurie,
I might suggest to be careful about consuming too much protein right now as this will slow the fat adapting process AND stall weight loss. Make sure you are somewhere close to your macro amount, there is wiggle room bot don’t blow out the top regularly. Make sure you have your macro setting on the “maintain” level until fat adaption as this will give you a better base line to start your journey on when the body starts using the fat for fuels.
