I think Dr Fung’s suggestion, which truly comes in at the low end of the experts’ protein recommendation spectrum, would be about 84 grams at your current weight. However, I doubt you’d have any trouble at all at up to 110 grams.

As many people here will tell you, I’m actually a person that tends to go fairly low-end conservative on protein numbers for weight loss, so I really doubt you’ll be overdoing it at any level in between those two numbers.

Going by Dr. Phinney’s recommendations, you’d need somewhere between 90 and 150g of protein a day, on average. Which is a pretty wide range, so feel free to experiment within that.

As many have said, this isn’t a calorie restricted way of life but how do you make sure you aren’t calorie restricting? I used a couple resources to set my macros, one was mentioned by @JohnH in the link he provided. Use 1.5 to 1.75 grams of protein per KG of body weight. I used the low side of this scale to set my protein level. Metabolic Rate Calculator I used this calculator to figure out my basal metabolic rate in calories. This is how much energy I need to consume to support my metabolism. When you restrict calories your metabolism slows. The last piece was using a macro nutrient calculator like My Fitness Pal or Cronomter. I plugged in my calculated protein number and my carb number at 20g and then dialed up my fat to meet the total caries my basal metabolic rate needs. This is my starting point, the next step is to listen to my body.

I spent the next 6 weeks getting fat adapted using these macros to help me. Slowly my fat intake dropped on its own, because I wasn’t hungry. My body got better at taking the fat it needs from my stores rather than me eating it. I wasn’t restricting calories but got my insulin levels low so my body could gets its needed energy from my fat stores.

After two months my weight loss stalled and I read Dr. Jason Fungs work and started implementing those tools.

That’s the problem with trying to meet automated artificial calculators (macros) apps, they quit working the deeper and longer you get into this lifestyle etc.

Kind of like allowing artificial intelligence to drive your car for you and then it crashes the car because too many variables in the real world activity were not and cannot be foreseen? The sentient being is still more accurate!

Don’t want to burn dietary fat entirely?

Once some wicked evil genius out their develops a real efficient micronutrient calculator; it could even surpass the need to restrict carbs with the right combo of compounds?

Possibly the worst analogy ever, given how often humans crash cars and how infrequently AI does the same.

Lol :joy::rofl::joy::rofl::joy::joy::rofl:

Which one is the lesser of the two evils?

Not to worry by the year 2028 we will probably be part cyber-cyborgnetic where the hardware is integrated with our autonomic nervous system using that unused portion of our brain that was put their for that purpose? (how spooky!)

Maybe, well yes I was in pain, but I assumed it was fibromyalgia flare up. However it happened first two weeks in January.
