Need fatty lunch meat ideas

#1

Hi there.
Need suggestions as to what I can grab and eat quickly during lunch. I don’t eat breakfast so by the time I grab lunch I am ravenous and have been eating a hot dog or two with half an avocado. The avocado seems to be bothering my GI issues so I may have to give that a break, and since hot dogs have such a bad reputation and supposedly are really terrible for you, I’m looking for other ideas. Yes, I sometimes do a beef patty instead, but that’s often my dinner, too, so another fatty, easy meat for lunch would be great.

I do buy the “healthiest”, all beef dogs I can find, but apparently even those are bad. Is there anything I can pick up at the grocery store tonight that would be a nice grab and go lunch? Pastrami? I know, I know, I could spend time on the weekend cooking chicken and roasts to set me up with lunches for the week, but that doesn’t happen as often as I’d like so I need a back up plan.

Thanks in advance.

Today I brought deli roast beef and am going to wrap it around cream cheese. Will also have some really good olives stuffed with feta.

I take lunch meat, spread cream cheese on it, add some tomato (Or Avo) and roll it and slice it in to bite size bits like sushi. Helps balance the fat and is perfect for that lunch time finger snack.

Avo also caused GI issues for me so I abstained for a few months and am now happy to report its back on the menu with no issues.

I’ve been meaning to get some prosciutto or pancetta. I believe either would be okay, but you’ll need to check the labels first.

I really like spreading cream cheese on a couple slices of ham and wrap a large pickle with it!! Very yummy

Costco has a pack of some really good Italian meats in my area. We get the variety pack with salami, prosciutto, etc. and it makes a great snack.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions, but that was painful to read - I can’t do dairy! I LOVE cream cheese with meat wrapped around it and practically lived on it when I did Atkins 25 years ago. Causes too many issues now so dairy is off my list. :frowning:

I like corned beef wrapped around homemade thousand island.

Boar’s Head pepperoni from the deli. Macadamia nuts. Olives. A few little pickled red peppers stuffed with sheep’s milk feta (if you can tolerate sheep’s milk).

Dukes brand sausages.

Hard boiled eggs (cooked the night before).

Milano Salami or Saucisson is really good, it has lots of fat in it.

Are sausages healthier than hot dogs? To me they always both seemed like processed meat stuffed into a sleeve. I need to cool it with nut products, use those too much already, but I would live on them if I could.

I’m not sure whether sausages are healthier than hot dogs. Probably, but depends whch sauages you buy. I read the labels and get the ones with the least carbs and the least strange ingredients.
