My first four weeks on Keto

(Tony) #1

So far, I’m in the middle of my 4th week on Keto and things are going very well. I’m keeping to about 1900 calories a day and about 20 to 30 grams of carbs with about 130 to 150 grams of protein.

I’m down 25 pounds so far and things are going well. I’m down to 255 pounds which I haven’t been since about 2011. At first, I was going to target 225 pounds as my target weight, but looking at how much fat I have to lose, I think 200 pounds is a better target weight.

So far, my pants and shorts are fitting loose and all my shirts in my closet fit now. I can move on from the four shirts I had in rotation for the past 2 years and actually have some variety!

I believe all the weight has come off my lower body and my neck and face. The inflammation in my calves and my feet have reduced drastically and my shoes even fit looser. My daily energy is much better and I feel less fatigued.

I’m looking forward to the next 25 pounds!

Tony.

Well done! Nice to be getting into smaller clothes :+1:

Well done Tony… going really well. One piece of advice: don’t count calories, just please start trusting your body’s hunger signals. If you are hungry eat (keto foods of course), but if you don’t feel hungry, don’t.

Sound like you are doing it well. Remember to add salt or drink some salty broth in the quick weight loss phase to balance out any body salt loss. The main signal is cramps in your legs or hands that you need salt.

Thanks to all! I’m good with cramps so far. I’m taking a potassium supplement and I make a homemade electrolyte drink with baking soda, potassium, pink Himalayan salt, and epsom salt. I drink a glass of that a day. I’m also eating a lot of leafy greens with at least one meal. Spinach, kale, arugula, etc… Last night I made chicken fajitas with sautéed 3-color bell peppers.

I’m eating more on a schedule right now, rather than eating on hunger and I’m not feeling cravings at all. I eat two meals a day on a 6-hour window right now. Sometimes I shrink it down to a 4-hour window if I’m busy and out of the house. I also drink 2 cups of bulletproof coffee a day. Consuming 2,000 calories in 6 hours without carbs is a lot of food!

I should get a very extensive walking session in today with my son. We’re headed to Busch Gardens for a half a day, then it’s off to costco where I’ll be buying a lot of meats today.

I should be past the rapid weight loss stage now and I’m down to losing 2 to 4 pounds a week right now. The first 15 pounds came off in 2 weeks, the last 10 pounds have taken 2 more weeks and I’ve leveled off and have bounced between 255 and 257 the past few days. Last week I was bouncing up and down from 258 to 261, so I’m still trending down, but rate has slowed.

I wish I could say that! It’s not much food for me especially in such a big eating window! You have it right, being satiated without eating too much for your needs so you get wonderful results! Even with slowing down, you probably won’t have much problems fat-loss wise! Grats!

2-4 pounds a week is pretty fast, anything above is surely losing much water or some magic most of us don’t have.

Awesome! Yeah, it will likely slow down over time, but I think slow and steady is best and easiest to maintain.
You got this!

(Marianne) #9

I’m really happy for you. Sounds like you are doing well and feeling great.

Excellent! Well done.
Keep it up, and stick with it even if you have the occasional setback.
