My First Fast!

(Chad Tew) #1

I am doing my first 72 hour water fast. I have been in Ketosis for 6 days and decided I wanted to do a fast after reading about all of the benefits!

I started my fast at 8am this morning, I am really excited about experiencing the changes over the next few days. It’s almost 4pm and I have had about 70oz of water, which has definitely helped suppress what little hunger I’ve experienced so far. After reading a lot of other posts, I did add a packet of salt to my last bottle of water.

Any advice is appreciated! thanks!

Good luck, sounds like you’re off to a great start. Keep up salts and electrolytes and drink to thirst - those are the main issues. Have fun.

Chad, it’s a good journey. Your own experience will be your best guide - there is a lot of individual variation in our fasting. For some people, the second day is the hardest, or the third, or the end of the first… For almost everybody, one constant is that fasting gets easier and better the more one does it.

Sounds like you’re on the right track. Extended fasting has gotten easier for me the more I do it and intermittent fasting. I’m currently on day 2 of a 5 day water fast. Plan to feast over the weekend and start another 5 day fast next week before the holidays. Salt helps so much.

Bone broth if you need it.
Any broth if you didn’t prepare :slight_smile:
Ketoaid if need be

@Chad_Tew HiChad,

I recently finished my first 72 hour fast. It was not a water only fast. I took some fat as well, training wheels.Things that helped me were: Water (both sparking and flat, I like San Pellegrino), salt, Mag Citrate, coffee and some fat in the am (BPC). I also tool a tablespoon of salted butter in the pm. Good luck!
