My festive keto snack

#1

Cooked gammon with cheese and some freshly cut cucumber slices. Simple, but delicious. What is your idea of a simple festive keto snack?

Oh I start to get hungry if I look at your photo, thanks, I am below 700 kcal and it’s 6:20pm, I have some crazy times since I started to try to skip lunch… (I usually do skip it, not today though.)

Whipped cream in a bowl is super festive if you ask me  I am not a simple one so I use vanilla and clove in it every time  But it would be nice anyway.

My normal nice snack is sour cream.

Whipped cream is fab, especially in coffee. I’m usually too lazy to whip it though and I don’t have a blender, so I just pour it in. What really appeals to me about keto is the simplicity. That’s of course up to each one, if they want to go really simple or more elaborate. But my keto weaknesses are cold cuts and cheese, as they are also so convenient and simple. I haven’t actually tried sour cream, but I imagine it would make for good dipping, for vegetables. And I’m sure your walnut pancakes would taste wonderful. My own almond pancakes never tasted turned out great.

I am all about texture and I can’t be lazy to whip some cream, it’s like one minute or two! It’s WAY nicer whipped  And I eat it quicker, at least used to…

Oh yes sour cream goes well with vegs. And eggs. Stews as well, we have one traditional chicken stew (with paprika, I am a Hungarian :)) that uses sour cream. But it is fine with others too especially if they are too hot or salty or something  I put it into my veggie soups as well. And it make things creamier…

Walnut makes a nice simple cake in the microwave with some yolks, baking powder (I use sodium bicarbonate and vinegar though) and a tiny bit of sweetener. I probably could eat it without at this point… It’s my fav cake and the only one I am not bored of after all the cake eating I did on keto…

I personally love ham, which is basically what I think “gammon” is.

We went to “The North Pole Express” last night, which is where you take a coal-fired steam train to the North Pole and meet Santa and Mrs. Claus and have cookies and hot chocolate, sing songs, play games. I did not eat dinner, and as soon as we got home, I had ham and cheese “sandwiches”, made by putting cheese and mustard in between two thick slices of ham. Very nice.

I can’t think of a better cheese sandwhich than that. Yes, gammon is just ham. I absolutely binged on it today as well as on the cheese all in the spirit of christmas lol. Mustard would have made it even more festive. The gammon joint my partner picked up in the supermarked was reduced from nearly £8 to 50p, can you believe? So of course I’ve been gorging on it. And it also allowed me to take a break from cooking.

I can’t imagine not having mustard at home… I used it every day in the beginning when I tried carnivore, not anymore but it’s still very common as I often eat boiled eggs and sausage. And mustard goes wonderful with them. More like they are hard for me to eat without it.

Good ham is nice but whatever I find nowadays is either some watery stuff or very expensive :frowning: Oh well, I can buy smoked pork hocks and that is ham enough  Not exactly but close and the taste is ham-like (no wonder, it’s next to it though things don’t always work that way)

Oh those things in GB’s currency that fills me with envy again… :rage:
:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
But I am really envious a bit. Gimme those prices, we are poor here, 30kg butter (on sale) or (I saw the price today) 12kg lamb ribs are as much money as a full smaller monthly salary…

I would add eggs, of course but the combo sounds really, really nice. And festive

Cambozola cheese! A cross between brie and blue.

It’s “festive” for me, because my local store has it at this time of year only.

Never saw this cheese but sounds very good! :yum:
