My exercise in KCKO

(Straight outta ‘Straya’) #1

So today is my anniversary - and I knew it was gonna be a blow out, so I did a 34hr water fast before hand and I’ll go back to my regular Keto diet and 16-8 IF routine tomorrow.

Unfortunately I racked up 60g of Carbs (estimated with MFP app) with only 12g of fibre to show for it but on the flip side, I feel quite proud of my discipline. Despite being at a all you can eat, I only ate til full, added in healthy additions like olives and tabouli and ate up all the oil and fat I could spoon onto my selections. I avoided the desserts altogether and as has been my custom for a month now, only drank water.

I am not feeling bummed out about being very likely bumped out of whatever ketosis adaptation I have gotten to… instead it’s an opportunity to KCKO and enjoy the journey.

I wouldn’t worry. 60g is not much and may not even bump you or if so, only for a short time. Remember, ketosis is NOT the goal, fat adaptation is, and this won’t stop or reset that.

If you can resist the obvious issues at such an event, you should pat yourself on the back and KCKO as you said.

Happy anniversary! I agree that you may be okay On ketosis.

You should be very proud of how you handled that! Life goes on past the keto diet protocol. If we eat as many meals as possible at home, we have this thing licked for the most part. Then when we got out and celebrate, we do what we can and it’s ALWAYS good enough because we cared and we tried and we’re human!
Happy Anniversary. Mine was a week ago and I also did my best, got moved out of ketosis (I don’t call it “kicked out” cuz that makes it sound like I was the victim of that and that’s not the case - I made choices), and went right back in the very next day. No harm no foul

And I am back on track…

IF 16/8 today, total finished kcal 1800 (yeah I know you really don’t need to obsess on kcals but I like to keep it around 2000) 5% carbs (23g), 21% protein (90g) and the rest in fat.

I have the same menu scheduled for tomorrow so all should be well

that’s barely a blow out, well done

Awesome job! I find that you had no desserts and ate until full HUGE accomplishments on such an occasion. I think you should be proud. Happy anniversary!
