My ALT is skyrocketing why?

(Andrew Fuller) #1

Hello All my ALT is climbing. I am 4.5 weeks in to a no sugar 20g a started on 3/8/19
day carb regiment and I am absolutely telling the truth I need this diet to work.
On 3/19 it was 73 on 4/4 it was 100. my doctor wants me to stop and go back should I press on?
I feel fine. My Dr. has an insulin pump is he just afraid for me? Please help, since i started i have lost
17lbs. And feel great! Love and Light to all!

I stay at 20g a day on the carbs give or take a carb seriously.

I’d retake in a while. I’d also consider intermittent fasting when you feel like it. That seems to help the liver even more than low carb/keto. Are you taking medication? Is your AST also changing? Have you had your GGT tested?

I will redo test in 2 weeks. I am pretty sure I am fat adapted. I am not hungry and forget its dinner dinner time most days. When I am not fasting it is important to keep the calorie count up right? I can do 24 hrs without a problem. So i will push for 36 and then break the fast. Feast for 2-3 days than fast again. When I started the diet I was 257 lbs as of today I am 238. Start date 3/8/19. NO sugar baby!

Have you been screened for viral hepatitis? What is your ratio of AST to ALT?

(The amazing autoimmune 🦄) #6

This happened to me, I retook a week later a little better and then 2 more weeks in had gone into the normal range.

Search liver function or alt in the search bar.

I have been vaccinated for hepatitis could there be correlation?

Hepatitis A (Adult) 5/30/2018, 11/30/2017
Hepatitis B (Adult) 5/30/2018, 1/30/2018, 11/30/2017

test scores going back a bit.

It starts to increase after immunisation on2/12

Mine before they yanked my gallbladder:
SGPT/ALT 1,041 Units/L

It had normalized by 6 weeks post surgery.

I guess the ER doc was mistaken about my discomfort being the stomach flu.

If you received a hepatitis vaccination in February, and the the ALT start going up at that point, I’d be far more inclined to suspect the vaccine as the cause of your elevated ALT, not your diet. I am very surprised that your physician hasn’t made that connection.

(Andrew Fuller) #12

I will comment on that when I see him next! Thank you for your help I will take whatever research i can find with me too.

My Alt has gone down from 100 to 66 in 2 weeks time.

That’s certainly progress in the right direction! :+1:
