My 1lb loss 🤣 before & after

I took this pic on the left the day before I stared keto (and eh no I’m not pregnant🤭) It was the last straw (mentally) So I started keto. I was doing good food wise but I got so discouraged when I weighed myself after 3 weeks.
I had ONLY LOST 1 POUND :sob:
I’d read how everyone else lost 20lbs etc. The scale was barely moving so I thought… ‘keto isn’t working for me… time to give up…may swell go stuff my face with chocolate and biscuits’.

Right before I did :cookie: :cake: binge

… I took a progress pic. When I compared the 2 pictures…3 weeks apart…with a 1 pound scale difference…I became hopeful again and realized the number on the scale meant nothing. Keto was working! But if I went by the scale I would have given up.

The scale isn’t moving but my body is changing.

I know the pictures aren’t good quality (they were never meant for public eyes :eyes::cold_sweat:) but just shows how pointless a scales is with Keto. Don’t give up if the scale isn’t moving!!

Wow, 1lb!!! That’s a whole belly of difference and in 3 weeks. Congrats

Scales are pretty misguiding… in my case scale moves but I don’t find that difference in my body :tired_face:

What did you do?

Haha thanks :hugs: maybe I’m just not bloated on keto like I was on carbs

Well done you! A great reminder again of why a scale can mess up a person’s head. I get bummed if I don’t lose pounds but I always check my body fat% and inches too and usually find loss there and realize (yet again!) that pounds are a shitty way for me to judge my progress. Thanks for the reminder, doll :sparkling_heart::metal:

Tell me about it!!! I knew I was feeling better mentally and much less stressed and anxious but when I would step on the scale and see no difference…it would actually ruin my day! I know I don’t have too much to lose so it’s going to take time. I think my metabolism is so messed up from years of yo-yo dieting and unhealthy restricting etc. back then I’d watch the scale plummet. That’s why I found it so hard to keep calm and keto on those first few weeks while the scale didn’t move. But now…hey…a pound is still progress I guess :woman_shrugging:t2::two_hearts:

I have had the same issues for 3 weeks I lost 1 lb but my nsv I’m visually much thinner , have more energy and have more mental clarity! Life is good ! Keto is working ! Embrace the small victories

The scale is ONE tiny aspect here…
You are also probably not that far from your weight.

And it happens to all of us. I was crashing it, losing about 5lbs a week (I had over 100lbs to lose).
I am less than 1/2 way there, and the weight loss has slowed to 3lbs/week for the last 2 weeks.

I am struggling with adding in vegetables. Every one I try I get negative reactions to. After 9 weeks of struggling, I am going to go Carnivore (just did) only for a few weeks.

I am also using IF. I eat one meal a day, MWF right now. I find it way easier to just not eat, then to control what I eat, or limit my meal size. When I eat, I eat until I am full.

I have also added weight training, and can already feel the muscles building up. Which may have negatively impacted the weight loss, as well… But that’s okay, because I look and feel better, AND long term, that adds to my basal metabolism.

So, stick with it!

Well done you! I have similar results and a very similar body type. Scale showed next to nothing after the first four weeks but my belly and back fat were melting. I’m at 140 now ( - 7 lbs) and still have fat around my mid section. I look like I’m normal weight with my clothes on but clothes just hide my fat in the middle. Thank you for your update and KCKO :grinning:

I have the same thing going on. I had lost two pounds in 4 weeks but am up one. I’m counting macros and even watching how many calories are going in. I’m exercising and feeling great. I didn’t take before pictures but I know what I looked like and my belly is flatter. What I have noticed and it keeps me going is the nsv. I have a scale (which is kind of a scale victory, but not the weight number) and my BMI has gone down. My body fat has gone down. My muscle mass has gone up. A pound of fat is the size of a volleyball. A pound of muscle is the size of a baseball. Sooooo… I’ve got some smaller balls on me but I’m totally cool with that.

Keto on!

Thank you for your post. You just gave my hope to stay the course. I too had lost hope. I thought I was doing something wrong. I figured only certain people benefitted from Keto. Thank you so much for the encouragement.

Congrats on your weight loss so far! You’re right …keep focused on the bigger picture!!

#13

Thank you! Those times I was tempted to give it all up…I thought…well…what’s the alternative?? Go back to eating crap…that makes me feel and look like crap?? :weary:image I use this picture as my screensaver on my phone. Just a reminder that I could be so close to the treasure (fat adaption) and not to give up We can’t see what’s happening on the inside of our bodies so we assume it’s just not working. We think we know better than our bodies. It could be repairing stuff we don’t know about which takes priority over weight loss. Time will pass whether we stick with this or not. So we may as well keep going. We’ve gotten this far :muscle:t2:It’ll all be worth it :two_hearts:

Congrats!!:clap:t2: That’s great to hear you’re seeing a drop in body fat! Progress is still…progress! The number on the scale may not change but your body just feels…smaller…or tighter. Thanks for that. It’s reassuring to hear other people’s similar experiences :two_hearts:

Congrats on the 7lb loss!! Good to hear a similar experience! I thought ‘Ugh all I’ve lost is a pound’ then a week later ‘Ugh all I’ve lost is another pound’. But those pounds all add up!!! Thanks for sharing :two_hearts:

Something else to realize is unless your very overweight ( as I am) you won’t see 20lbs loss. And I saw that for the first month and then stopped at 40lbs lost total in 5 months. And I am still very overweight. The less you have to lose the longer and harder that loss usually is. Great thing with keto tho is body composition. I’m still 210 and many people think I’m more like 170-180 because of body composition! It’s amusing and makes me keep trucking on with keto.

#17

That’s so true! I just didn’t get that when I started. I just read about people losing 30lbs in a month etc. I was very naive and uneducated about keto when I began and expected miracles :woman_facepalming:t2: It took me a while to really understand this way of eating and how it actually works! I’ve learned so much on this forum! It’s kinda funny now though that although I haven’t lost much, I feel much happier and less anxious about everyday life events to the point that my weight doesn’t really bother me anymore. I feel A sense of calm where before i was like the duck who appeared calm on the water but if you looked closer you’d see his legs frantically paddling underneath.
Well done on your weight loss! 40lbs in 5 months! That’s amazing!!! :two_hearts:

You’re not even supposed to weigh yourself but use a tape measurement. I now know why. I haven’t lost much weight but I’ve lost a lot of fat. Where my stomach hung over now it doesn’t in just a matter of weeks! Actually eat more now than I did before just not si much carbs! I never realized how much carbs I was actually eating until I stopped.

Wow! Thats amazing! I am 1 week into Keto as of yesterday… lost 2 pounds and was getting discouraged! I started this because my cousin had lost 9 pounds in 2 weeks and she is smaller than me! I am not sure how she did that, but I am not having that kind of results so I came here to get advice. After seeing this post I tried on my black pants that were hard to button before I started… and they fit much better now!! In the waist and the butt… so I am making progress. I feel better now…

Than you for posting. It is great to see the reality. My scale has only ever worked to derail
