Moving from Paleo into Paleo/Keto & lack of motivation

(Melissa ) #1

Hi Everyone,

Came across you guys today so thought I would join and see if being part of a larger group will help with increasing my motivation, which is currently sitting at 0%.

I am 4 years Paleo (with odd treats) and for the past year have been out of the gym due to medical issues and surgery. I have put on roughly a stone and lost a considerable amount of muscle and now trying to get back into a routine.

I also suffer badly with anxiety which makes me lazy when I finish work at night and trying to drag myself to the gym feels impossible.

In terms of exercise, I was always a heavy lifter and was down to 13% BF at one point with a really good amount of definition, which is where I am aiming to get back to.

My biggest issue is that Keto leaves me feeling hungry, like SO hungry all the time. I have started off on >50g net carbs and even then I am struggling with cravings. Similarly on each calculator I use my calories are so low that even if I wasn’t trying out Keto, I would still be hungry!

Most recent (based on sedentary) as I prefer to go off net calorie intake, as I have done in the past;

  • 1260 kcal Goal, a 10% deficit. (788 min, 1406 max)
  • 25g Carbohydrates
  • 93g Protein (57g min, 93g max)
  • 88g Fat (36g min, 103g max)

There is no way I can stay so low cal. So basically I need some help from people who have been in that exact position before and what they did to overcome it!

But anyway, I’m 29, Live in Bonnie Scotland and my real name is Melissa.

Get down to 20 g net carbs, eat to satiety and let your body adjust

Seems a lot of protein and nowhere near enough fat… forget the calories, carbs limit, protein goal, fat depending on hunger.

Hi,

It sounds to me like you might well like to try @amber 's Temporary Extremism Approach. I suspect that whatever you do afterwards, it’ll be an amazingly self-informative thirty days!

If you do try it, let us know how it goes!

Had a good read of the article and I think I will give this a go in August when there aren’t any social events that require me to eat out.

Doesn’t help that I’m having a new kitchen fitted at the moment so my cooking appliances are limited but at least I have a slow cooker.
