Without too many details… I seem to be be running loose, and lower quantity. Is this normal, and how long should it last?
Morning Constitutional
I had the same issue when I first started Low Carb. Although on some days, felt kinda ‘backed up’. Eventually your body get’s used to the new routine, mine lasted a few weeks.
I tend to poop like a Christmas goose for the first few days and then things clear up.
Me too! 3 weeks in and still runny! My stomach make tons of noise too, lol
I hope all will clear up soon.
I’ve been Keto since January. I poop 3-4 times a week. It’s only weird at first.
I have irritable bowel and was advised NOT to eat fried fatty foods. However I am now eating way more fat than I ever thought I would! My IBS has me running to the bathroom at least twice a day since starting (3 weeks tomorrow).
Before this, one extremely loose stool/day was normal (unless it flares up and then all bets are off). I also ate a banana every morning to bind up a little.
I’m hoping it does slow down a little bit as I’m hesitant to go out in public right now unless I know where the bathroom is…
As they say,
happens. I take an Imodium tablet or two if it gets really bad.
Everybody is different, but it is not uncommon for this to happen at the beginning. More often than not, it will self-regulate as the gut begins to heal and the digestive tract gets used to the new diet.
For me, oddly enough, I’m seeing a huge decrease in my stool!
Very odd. Usually I’m the other way. I’m also not having any carb withdrawal symptoms, which is also VERY odd for me. Eh. Every time I begin keto, I am surprised how different my body reacts.
OK, I’m 3 months in and finally more or less regular. Less bulk, due to less fiber, but more like normal. Whew, finally
it is most likely you do not have the right gut flura (bacteria)
Taking a prebiotic with a probiotic increases the frequency of bowel movements, and improves stool consistency
Eat sour Kraut or pickles in addition to your veggies
Quick fix Eat Plain Yogurt and Black berries
Another problem is too much saturated fat which can cause too much bile

Everyone is different, I suspect that it has to do with the flora dying off in the gut - as that flora has been growing and feeding off of carbs and now has no/reduced intake. That flora population has to reduce in size to be able to feed off of the now no/reduced carb intake - Some dies off quickly, some takes longer. Think of the flora as a bacteria, it literally has grown into every pore of the intestinal track over time.
Just look at every article written on probiotics, they are all about slowly regrowing the flora in your gut which does not happen overnight.
In general i’ve been lower carb all my life and absolutely low to no carb over the past year. I add two tablespoons of coconut oil and two drops of cinnamon oil to my coffee each morning as a way to help lubricate all of the plumbing - all I can say is that it works for me.
Best of luck, hopefully things balance out quickly.
I could easily skip veggies most days. Some days I get a bit backed up and I have found if I drink my greens it helps.
This is what I take
I mix it with water and a tablespoon or 2 or ACV.
Thanks so much!!! I am going to at least try some of these. I run loose. But now …well. It’s a problem
