Hey Guys, so here is my story. I have tried so many different diets and programs but it could never stick, purely because it wasn’t intended to be a lifestyle. I’m not one to track or even do meal preps. Its just too time consuming. I actually even had to cancel my gym membership mainly due to the fact, that our second little one was born last year Nov. And those of you who have kids know that time for yourself is very limited. So i started doing Keto after about the beginning of April this year. So far my weight dropped from 102kg to 97.4kg. It is slow, but I’m happy with it. Well might be due to the fact that I love my dairy (AKA full cream milk and cheeses).
I never really felt the Keto flu, apart from getting cramps in my left calf and feeling a little tired. But I think the tiredness, might be more due to my lack of sleep. Im currently averaging about 5hour sleep a night (interrupted). So to break it down, our little new born wakes up around 12am am and 3 or 4am. So my wife and I split our shifts and we normally try and get up between 5am and 6am to get ready for work. I think the best part of the Keto diet, apart from the weight loss is the energy. I have soo much more enegy with the lack of sleep and i don’t seem to feel any crashes during the day. Yes, I do drink ALOT of coffee, but prior to Keto, I was grumpy in the morning and during the day i used crash hard and back then, then only thing that could keep me going would be a redbull (I used to drink closed to one a day and some days 2). My mood has changed so much and little things don’t get to me anymore.
I have started focusing more on intuitive eating and it works for great for me and teaches me to listen to my body a lot more. Its amazing how much less food you can get by with when you actually listen to your body and even started to skip breakfast. So doing a sort of 16/8. I do watch the scale a lot, but i also go by how my clothes feel and especially how my wedding ring and belt sits and i move down the gears of the belt.
Like said, i don’t like tracking macros even though everyone says you should. But I feel content with what im eating because I’m watching how it makes me feel. I basically try and put butter, cream cheese and cheese with everything i eat, and then also put in the the occasional avo.
One meal i really enjoy is burgers: (80/20 beef patty cooked in butter), bed of lettuce, slab of cheese, bacon and my own homemade pepper sauce (butter, cream cheese, beef stock, pepper). My wife also makes the best jalapeno poppers which is basically jalapeno pepper halves with cream cheese and then wrapped in bacon and oven grilled.
Sorry for the long winded post. I just wanted to share my story because i’m really enjoying and i’m not really having cravings or anything even though our house always is always stocked with nice things to eat for our eldest son like chocolate, cookies ect…
