Mixing it up

In a couple weeks, we’ll be hearing from Megan Ramos. In that interview she talked about “mixing it up.” If the goal is weight loss - and particularly breaking through a stall - t’s a good idea to NOT settle into a pattern and stay there. Rather, change it up every few days.

Last week I fasted for one day and managed to bring my set weight down a couple pounds. Today, I’m trying a fast after eating a big meal at 9AM. That will put the 18 hour mark at 4AM. I’ll sleep through it, and hopefully be able to fast until tomorrow afternoon sometime. After breaking the fast with a light meal I’ll feast again for a couple days then do it all over again. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I find this concept interesting and also that it has worked for me. You would think that going from OMAD to two would have a bad impact on weight loss? Nope - my weight continued to hold at the same level. Megan talked about OMAD this week on Fasting Talk and how you can get stuck in a rut and stop losing. I quite easily fall into not eating enough especially with OMAD because of my sleeve I think. The less I eat, the more my appetite drops and then I end up eating too little IMO. So I switch it up to eat more with no negative impact.

Have fun with your experiments.

I’ve wondered if changing up your fasting times matters, even if it’s the same length of a fast. For example, I typically do 20:4 IF and eat between 11-3. If I were to change those hours to, say, 4-8 would it matter? I might need to try it and see.
