(What The Fast?!) #1

Hey all! As some of you know, I’ve been doing keto for about a month and my b/f just agreed to join me a few days ago. I’m SO excited that he is (mainly so I can stop making two meals all the time). I had a feeling that he would get into ketosis almost right away and probably have excellent results really quickly. I’ve only lost like NET 1.5 lbs, struggle with hunger, and haven’t seen a ketones reading higher than 0.9…but I have a sneaking suspicion that this will be easy as keto pie for him.

He has no health issues, does endurance cycling, and is all around healthy aside from an extra 10lbs or so. He started on Monday morning, yesterday he messed up and had a handful of cereal, and even so, today a few hours after breakfast his ketones already read 1.3!!! I’m super happy it’s already going so well for him, but like…come on man!

Also - his blood glucose (I didn’t do a fasting BG for him, but I took it a few hours after breakfast) was at 66. I think that’s really good too, right?

Anyway, I’m going to track his progress compared to mine on this thread…should be interesting.

sort of like (a commercial or a comedian?):
“he cut out sodas and lost 20lbs…i lost my boobs” :joy:

i think as a very loose general rule we as women have a long and painful history of calorie restriction and therefore a higher likeliness for insulin resistance, slower BMR, and don’t get the benefit of higher testosterone… but then again we don’t have to shave our faces or change tires (unless we want to change tires lol)

Exactly. He’s never restricted calories and eats everything in moderation. We always joke that when we go to a restaurant, he orders the think I actually want and I order the thing I think I should actually eat.

Men are hard to love. I’m surprised we have survived as a species to this point…

My husband has cut carbs with me, and he quickly dropped from 11-12% bf to 7-8% bf. He is very active - he probably needs 4000+ calories a day. I don’t know for sure but would say he is probably a fat burner genetically or he flips over to being a fat burner very easily. He was dropping weight too fast until I introduced BPC to him and now he drinks a couple of those a day. He adds a huge spoonful of coconut oil, HWC, and butter to his - probably 600 calories each, lol. He can eat carbs - a hamburger bun here or some fries and still drinks a couple beers when we go out. Oh well, he got lucky in the genetic lottery. He gets the whole keto thing and is very suportive of my new keto recipes and I am good with that.

Well we can fix stuff and lift heavy objects so there’s that.
