I havestrong text been succefully doing keto for 4 months. I’ve no medical issues but I’m 47 and 25kg overweight now circa 15kg over my target weight.ive listener and read to hours and hours of info and fasted regularly so I’m pretty savvy now about what to do and I’m heavily in to this
My 80 yr old dad is now doing this under my advice because in my opinion he is medically and mentally and physically slipping from us and I know he can restrict this. After just one week we are seeing big benefits
He is type 2 diabetic and on Monday we have decided to visit his doctor and inform him of what we are doing. I expect a negative response but I will manage this situation for him
I want him off as many drugs as possible.
These are his meds
Aspirin 75mg1a day.Doxazosin2mg1aday.Duloxetine20mg2,aday.Losartan,50mg1aday.Metformin,500mg4aday.Omeprazole,20mg 1a day.Paracetamol,500mg taken as required.Simvastatin,20mg,1a day at night.
Any steer or advice would be appreciated

I would say she is successfully treating the symptoms, not cured.

As a T2, I used to use nearly a vial of insulin daily. I started strict Keto at the start of 2017 and haven’t needed insulin since, and stopped metformin late last year.

But if I went back to lots of calories with sugar and carbs, I’d get the symptoms again.

I laugh every time I see TV commercials for T2 medications. Every single one says something like “When used along with diet and exercise…”.

I agree but at the risk of sounding sarcastic …, obviously she knows if she reverted to high sugar she would be t2 again and she knows that .
Her doctor actaully said to her . …, well yes you are cured but you should now include more carbs in your diet now and when she questioned it she said because that’s the advice we must give . Amazing ???
