Meal prep/Might try this again

#1

Cooking with my air fryer recently has sort of inspired me to maybe try keto again, since my weight has been sitting around the same 220 for months now and the sight of a gut reminds me of how much I don’t want to look like my dad.

I’ve tried keto before on my own, but didn’t get very far. I blame that mostly on a lack of willpower and lack of access to good tasting food. I tried meal prepping egg bites with some spices but they were mostly bland and flavorless, so my cooking probably needs work. Let’s get to the point shall we.

What are some simple and easy things I can prep in my air fryer, or oven with minimal mess and good shelf life? I do work in a grocery store, but since i’m on backshift i’m often lacking energy when I get off work, or sometimes during, which is part of where the need to snack on something or get some sugar comes from. Maybe if I have lots of meal prep done, I can avoid those moments of weakness instead of picking up a wunderbar and a chocolate milk.

tip 1: give away your air fryer, and start using a deep fryer.
tip 2: learn about keto here, read “obesity Code”, google 2ketodudes etc.
tip 3: if you dont want to be bothered to learn right away - do this: eat nothing but bacon & eggs & steak for 2 weeks - or a month. Eat as much as you want, but not more. Dont eat when you are not hungry, even if it is lunch time, dinner time or breakfast time. When you see how good you feel, and are addicted to the high energy - then go to tip 2.

report back here with the results.

Mic drop.

I like to meal prep ahead. I have two days off per week, typically Wednesday and Saturdays. I use them to cook at least for two days ahead.

But when I can’t, I keep assorted cheeses and high quality lunch meats (watch the carbs on these) like salami or prosciutto on hand. Along with olives and hard boiled eggs, I can grab an easy Keto meal without any effort. Canned tuna in olive oil is also easy easy.

I used to eat those canned olive oil tunas for lunch almost every day at one of my previous jobs, they are indeed delicious. Is any kind of the standard grocery store cheeses acceptable? I cant really save much money on cheese. Most food is expensive here. How long will hard boiled eggs last in the fridge if I dont manage to eat them all in 2 days?
I also dont really buy sliced meats, since they’re often too expensive for what you get. 15 small slices of cold cuts for 5 bucks+tx is awful compared the the total meat you can get from buying a chicken breast or pork. Maybe its cheaper where you are though.

I would stay away from processed cheeses like the American cheese slices that come prewrapped, but most others are good. Read the label to be sure. Some have additives and flavoring that ups the carbs.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #6

Hardboiled eggs ought to last at least four or five days in the fridge.
