MCT oil taste

(Toni) #1

Does MCT oil taste better than coconut oil in coffee, because I am rapidly going off coconut oil but don’t want to give up my homemade BP Coffee.

Ever tried using ghee for your bullet proof coffee? I love mine and it claims 99% fat 78% saturated fats

I don’t think they have a taste. The one I use has none anyway. (Start off in small amounts with it though…I learned that the hard way :running_woman:t3: :toilet::cold_sweat:) you can increase amount gradually

depends on the brand I guess. I had one I loved and it tasted like delicious raw eggyolk… but somehow they changed their proccess and it started to taste like plastic…

Homemade ghee is awesome and easy to make… if you leave it on for long enough until it browns some it gets a fantastic caramel note…

Is it hard to make? Is there a recipe in the site as I’d love to give it a go☺️

I buy Left Coast from Amazon and it has no flavor. I just use HWC.

Not at all, just chuck butter in a pot on low heat, wait, wait and wait some more, stirr occasionally, strain, done.
I occasionally forgot about it and almost burnt it, was actually when it turned out most delicious…

Here a good instruction with pictures (Leave out the garlic for BPC of course):

Your awesome - thank you. I’ll definately be giving this a go.

   You are most welcome.

I usually like to do a big batch since it lasts easily more than a year in the fridge, costs about 1/4 of storebought ghee and you can easily adjust it to your liking

It’s my project tomorrow  and if does last a year in the fridge then that’s even better. A big batch and just use as you like. Thanks for the link I’ve rad, and re-read lol

I think I used the picture guide twice, after that you pretty much get the hang of it.
Have fun and post pictures of your bounty :sunglasses::sunglasses:

I probably don’t have the most sensitive palate, but in the 2-3 brands I’ve tried I have found that MCT oil has zero discernible taste. It makes me lips feel a little slick/oily but otherwise I’d never know it was in there. I only use about 1-1.5 TBSP though.

(Toni) #13

No, I’ll have a look for some. Thanks.

(Toni) #14

I’ll give homemade ghee a whirl

Thank you all for responding .

The good ones have near no taste, some of the cheap ones loaded with C6 chains can taste pretty bad. My normal go to’s are KetoMCT (C8 only) and Left Coast Nutritions MCT which is a C8:C10 mix. Plenty of good ones out there, stay away from the Bulletproof Branded stuff, disgusting.

On the ghee, yep, it’s SUPER easy to make. First it becomes clarified butter, then it becomes ghee. Our current batch (I make it 1kg at a time) smells like caramel…

Find an Indian ethnic grocery store. Ghee is a staple, and as cheap as butter. Ready to use

Oh yeah, it’s always someone else’s fault, isn’t it Serena?
