Low carb science in the LA Times!

What a joy to read this in a major US newspaper:

Pretty good article - have been discussing it on Facebook. Glad to see some focus on the ‘carbohydrate-insulin’ model.

The test diets were either 20%, 40% or 60% carbohydrates. So, for all the “good press,” they didn’t get low enough in carbs to really see the deal.

True enough!

At last, an article by one of the pre-eminent low-carb researchers appears in the mainstream press!

That’s his op-ed from the NYT.

Nice solid headline they put on it, good for them.

Yeah usually they screw the headlines up, especially in science stories. So infuriating. @juice, I saw somewhere that you’re a journalist? Me too.

But Doug, such a diet would be unethical—why, the brain alone needs 150 g of glucose a day to keep going. And nobody can eat a low-carb, high-fat diet, anyway, because it’s unsustainable. And will kill you. (insert sarcasm emoji here)
