Low carb, real food children

(Joe) #1

I’m looking for some solid research on dietary effects of low carb on healthy children. My wife is tolerant of my keto and borderline supportive. However she gets defensive when I start questioning our kids diets. She is adverse to documentaries and I think she feels I over react. She is in research for a living so I am wondering if i get some solid stuff on the benefits of low carb real food for kids aside from the basic huff post stuff I may stand a chance. She is tiny and grew up on waffles and cereal so she doesn’t see the dangers I do.
Some people have a mindset for this stuff and she well doesn’t…
What’s out there?

Thanks in advance
-Joe

The Magic Pill is a documentary but, it is a great one. It features 2 children that are non verbal autistic improving majorly on keto. It also has other members of the family and other people improving. But, what’s important is the doctors talking about how carbs are not a necessary nutrient for growth.

Maybe, instead of pushing keto, just focus on the Real Food aspects.

  • avoiding flavourings, sweeteners, empty calories, etc. No rubbish.

And you can always say ‘yeah, maybe poptarts, waffles and twinkies worked for you, with your genes, but remember, these kids are half my genes too. And we’d better start looking after them now, or they could turn out like me!’ (or my grandad, or my Mom, or whichever example is likely to get the point acress  )

Quite by chance I came upon your post, a bit late admittedly, after reading a review of:

My kids have fled the nest so I haven’t read it…
