I am just starting out and I am having a very hard time limiting my veggies to stay under 20g a day.
This is not easy! I have my whole life believed the more veggies the better for you. I cannot fathom how to stay under 20g a day and still enjoy my veggies. Any advise?
Love my veggies
Are you subtracting the fiber content from the total carbs of the vegetables?
If not then you can do so.
I would also say you can eat a lot of green leafy vegetables for 20 net carbs. Maybe you have to rethink what vegetables you want to eat.
Also more and more scientific evidence is coming out that vegetables are not necessary. There are people here who eat carnivore for years and are healthy.
Choose veggies that have lower carb and higher fiber so that you can see the right amounts for your liking. Just look at some lists. I love veggies too and eat them every day. It is not that hard to get used to the limit.
I found both of these very useful getting my feet wet with keto. and there are more veggies not on that list, all leafy greens are good. (Collard, mustard, beet Bok Choy)
Just pay attention to the net carbs and stay away from the root veggies. My new favorite is riced cauliflower as a substitute for potatoes. Once you become fat adapted you can probably get away with a few more carbs especially if you exercise.
Thank you everyone for the replies. I think what I will do is ease into keto while doing 30g or less carbs and still enjoy my veggies. I don’t mind giving up all the crap but veggies are a hard one and I’m not talking about veggies we are not supposed to have. I am talking about the approved veggies. Also I do exercise so this might be the way to go. Thanks again everyone.
