Losing weight?

I’m relatively new to keto, about 3 weeks in. I didn’t have a terrible time converting to Keto. I sufferer muscle cramps, headache, etc for a day or 2 early on and the pee strips show I’ve been in ketosis for 2 weeks. I feel less bloated, more alert, less inflammation, less hunger and sleep better. The problem is that I’m not losing much weight, I’ve lost 2-3lbs so far. I exercise (crossfit) 5 times a week, although mostly feeling good on keto, I still feel pretty crappy during workouts and haven’t recovered my preketo energy or strenght. I’m 5’2", 138 with 20%ish body fat. Am I not losing weight quickly because I don’t have a ton to lose?

Do you track your measurements that aren’t weight?

Especially if you are working out it’s nice to see your stomach getting smaller, arms and legs bigger. If not I’d advise taking weekly measurements along with weight to see if you are perhaps becoming more toned.

Are you running a Kcal deficit? Paradoxically I’ve found that some days when I blow way over my 1600kcal to numbers like 4000kcal I actually weigh less the next day the main reason is I’ve consumed a lot of fat.

Also you are correct, at only 20%BF you will lose slower than someone with 40%, weight loss isn’t linear nor consistent.

Do you just drink water during a workout?

Yes, the closer you are to your ideal body weight, the slower it comes off.
I’m also 5’2” and was just a little heavier than you when I started 9 weeks ago. I’m down to 132.4.

It will come off slowly. Just enjoy eating yummy foods while it does.
