Looking for free, simple android app for cycling

I currently use an android app called “Simply Walking” for walking & nordic walking. It may not have the functions of some of the fancier apps, but it’s perfect for my needs.

But I’m not sure if it’s designed to cope with cycling speeds, so I’d like to try something specifically for cycling, but I don’t want to get into subscriptions or any other complications.

All I really need is total distance, average speed, maybe maximum speed, and the ability to produce and export a .gpx file so that I can look at the route I took on a computer.

I’m not a racer, so I’m not too bothered about shaving seconds off my performance, etc, although I would be interested in seeing if I can increase my average speed by getting fitter (and lighter, hopefully!). I cycle mostly on the road.

Suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.

I used the built in on mine, Samsung Health, and it was OK but after some hesitation I moved to Strava. Strava doesn’t require a subscription unless you get premium and it shows tons of information about your workout. I was hesitant at first because a lot of the talk was from people using it to try to race each other, beat everyone’s time etc. and while you can do that, you don’t have to. I can pick certain parts of my route I want to improve. See if I can post this here:

So that is the top part, soon to have heart rate and cadence info. As you highlight each part of the map it tells you info about elevation, distance, speed and all that and the bottom keeps track of your performance on different segments.

Thank you John. Very useful.
