Hi guys,
I am having constant leg cramps/pain in-fact its all over my muscles. I think this is whats called keto flu? is there a quick fix? I am traveling and this is ruining my entire trip. Last night I kept waking up because of pain in my legs and glutes as if I have been working out and feeling sore/pain uncomfortable.

its my day 6 on keto and lost around 5lbs

any tips?

Magnesium citrate at night and get a high quality salt and take 1/4 tsp directly on the tongue several times a day and wash down with water. If you can find zipfizz you can try one of those as an afternoon pick me up. It has a good load of potassium.

Will salt in sprite zero work?

Directly on tongue is going to be a struggle. Salt in sprite zero?good or bad idea?

I forgot to bring my multivitamins on the trip… will be returning home on saturday. Don’t want to go out spending money on what i already have at home. Im thinking salt for now?

In my experience it’s not going to be enough. I have to supplement with 5-8 grams of salt a day. I use Redmond’sall natural which is a high quality salt with a bunch of minerals and iodine. After the first couple times I got used to it and now it doesn’t even bother me.

I am still using zero calorie sweeteners as desired. But around here, there’s a lot of encouragement to avoid them as they can cause insulin to be produced despite having no carbs. So I encourage you to do what works for you to keep you healthy and happy to continue this way of eating. For me that’s salting my food, supplementing a 250mg magnesium and a 99 mg potassium, adding 1/4 tsp salt on my coffee, 1/4 tsp salt in a liter of water with a propel berry powder packet for flavor and alternating between that and regular water. I do drink diet sodas sometimes but I was drinking a lot more before I found the propel powder which helped me wean off them.

I agree, electrolytes are probably the issue. Poweraid zero can work in a pinch (contains sucralose) and you can add some more salt in.

I had similar issues initially and adding magnesium citrate to my multi helped a lot with cramps, sleeping, and regularity. Salt lite (or something similar) is also a great Poweraid zero additive and contains potassium and sodium chloride. Don’t go to high on the Salt, it can cause an evacuation if it’s to high. Start with a gram or 2 and assess the changes over an hour then add more if needed.
