Latest non-scale victory while treating Bladder Stones

(Jim) #1

I am having an issue with Calcium in the urine leading to Bladder stones.
So, the doctor told me to change my diet to Low-Oxalate.
Foods to avoid:

  • Fruit( Grapefruit, Raspberries, Pineapple),
  • Grains (Cornmeal, Brown Rice, Pancakes, Wheat Flour, Pasta),
  • Veggies (Potatoes, Carrots, Eggplant),
  • Meat( Soy Burger, Tofu),
  • Nuts (Almonds, Cashews, Peanuts, etc. )
  • Snacks (Potato Chips, Brownie).

I told Doc I’ve been on Low-Oxalate diet for 2 years

Just curious, do you use lemon juice or apple cider vinegar? I’ve heard that both of those can be good for preventing stones. Do you use K2? I’ve heard that can be useful for a body to move calcium to all of the right places and help to keep it out of the wrong ones. Are you eating foods with calcium? (I’m not saying that’s bad. Some might suggest that when eating something like spinach, eating it with something high in calcium helps to counteract the oxolic acid.)

There are much more educated people here than me, but I was just curious about some stuff. Maybe some of them will be more helpful and more knowledgeable.

Good luck!

I am not adding juice but people have told me to use fresh lime or lemon juice in water.

I’m using K2

My food log shows low calcium, about 500 mg per day

Spinach is high in oxalates

Serum calcium is normal.

And I have a variation in the AGXT gene which indicates it may be genetic
