Lacteal junction zippering AKA fat blocking pill

I’m new to the forum & this is my first post. Please go easy on me

I came across this publication titled “Lacteal junction zippering protects against diet-induced obesity” (link to abstract below) after hearing about it on “The Naked Scientist” podcast. From a ketosis perspective the concept seems absolutely horrifying.

The abstract’s opening salvo is, “Excess dietary lipid uptake causes obesity”. Yikes! The paper purports to prevent fat from penetrating into the bloodstream by blocking chylomicrons, which transport dietary fats from the small intestines to the bloodstream – via lacteals. It seems to me that ketosis would be significantly limited under these conditions… Thoughts?

How about a sugar blocker, it’s the sugar not the fat that causes the problems!

Any pill that blocks the bodies natural processes is bound to make the problems even worse…

Fat blockers sounds real real dangerous long or short term and a definite future cardiac arrest waiting to happen, especially if your eating sugar on top of it…

Then of course their is the carb blocker if you like rapid heart beat palpitations that feel like your dying?

Hard to believe these kinds of products are even allowed to be sold, they are very dangerous!

I feel really really sorry for anyone who would take this type of garbage?

Sugar Blockers:

Sugar blockers utilize the ingredients Chromium and Gymnema Sylvestre. Chromium is a mineral, found in many different foods and is thought to help your cells absorb blood sugar, which in turn will reduce cravings. However, Gymnema Sylvestre is the most promising of the two sugar blocking ingredients. Gymnema Sylvestre is a herb found in India that mimics glucose. Because of these capabilities, it’s thought that this herb will bind to cell receptors instead of sugar. …More

Even if not keto, stay the hell away, I took something like that for about a month maybe 12 years ago, deeply unpleasant side effects that somehow still linger on (causing occasional issues with the fat I eat now). Awful, humans should be eating real food inc fat not attempting to circumvent “bad food” with a pill.

They used to sell a pill that did this. It kind of enforced low fat dogma, because you’ve greasy, unpleasant emissions from your nether regions. Alli Orlistat… yeah, that was it. Aka Xenical.

So much about changes to poop… A lot of folks can lose like that, but it’s a hard commitment. My mom lost with a gastric bypass, but has now regained… took 7-8 years to regain, but that, too, was a hard commitment to calorie reduction.

I wouldn’t do it. But I could see as it’d work for some. Remember, there’s magic in the high fat, there’s different juju in the ultra low fat.
