Not tested in ketogenic subjects, dependent on microbiota, finding another avenue for red meat to be the culprit, yada yada yada.

Not enough data in the abstract to see what dosage they gave the mice, but meanwhile, there’s carnitine in nearly every cell of your body and it’s important for mitochondrial energy.

I’d suggest this study is an outlier, as many studies have found anti-ischemic effects of L-Carnitine supplementation, and low carnitine levels are associated with ischemic events (heart attacks).

It’s also associated with increased insulin sensitivity.

I don’t buy it. I’d have to see the full study, but I suspect they have monkeyed with their mice.

As a side note the study you reported is based or written within the theory that red meat is not healthy versus a vegan lifestyle…I would assume that all thoughts of the effect found in a Keto diet have been ignored.
