Keurig or Nespresso?

(corina) #23

I love my Nespresso Latissima, coffee is strong and so flavourful. Also you can make espresso, cappuccino, latte, or black coffee with this one machine, so versatile.

Up and running from cold in less than a minute.

Little late for the discussion so, more for future readers I guess - these things aren’t so good for us…

Yeah I saw that when it came out a while back. i didn’t use k-cups. I had a reusable filter for my keurig. It’s great that the nespresso capsules are 100% recyclable so i don’t feel bad owning one.

I buy a $20.00 Mr. Coffee setup about once every 5-7 years. It’s all I’ve used for the last 30 years. Maybe I’m just stubborn and resistant to technological change (I still have a working TV in my basement that plays VHS tapes) but I don’t see a reason to upgrade when the end result is the same and costs me next to nothing.

Yeh drip coffee is good in a pinch but move aside, espresso is extracting! :coffee::cowboy_hat_face:

Those little tiny cups remind me of my wilder days of doing shots and drinking beer on any day that ended in ‘Y’. It’s best I not indulge in anything resembling that behavior. :stuck_out_tongue:

Frank! Totally agree with you. I just bought the Breville 870XL This year and it has blown me away, far exceeding my expectations. I was a regular drip coffee guy… also loved french press, but who doesn’t love a great americano? Grinds that coffee fresh, takes me a total of 1 minute to pull a shot. Has a great hot water dispenser. Has saved me hundreds and the year just started ( by avoiding starbucks on my way to work ). I also grabbed the Best buy extended warranty because the way I abuse coffee, the no questions asked replacement was worth the $70.

An americano is how I start every morning. With a T of hwc that is.

(Robert C) #32

You guys are all wrong!

Chemex pour-over, filtered water from a gooseneck kettle and good beans ground moments before.

I’ve got a similar Breville - makes an excellent coffee and the house smells amazing :yum:

That’s gorgeous!

Haven’t been able to read the comments, but here’s my 2c:

  1. My first preference is usually to go to a cafe. Sure, it’s much more expensive, but I like the whole experience.
  2. I have a Nespresso at work. I use a reusable pod, because why destroy the planet just to profit a large corporation, and why not save money by using your own (better) coffee? Seriously, it makes a very good cup of coffee in a pinch, especially if you get a decent milk foamer. The coffees I make at the office are hands-down superior to the barista’s efforts at street level.
  3. I have an Atomic coffee maker at home, which makes a great cup of coffee, and the thing is a work of art. However, if I was buying something for my home and money was no object, I’d probably get something like this Breville. As close to a pro grade machine for your home.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #36

I love the taste of espresso, but I went off it when I found out it has less caffeine, lol! :coffee:

This is probably better suited to your needs, should your machine ever fail.

I think that I jinxed myself here, KRUPS died a quiet death this morning after my first batch :weary::cry::sob::coffee::slightly_frowning_face:
