I am basing this off of something my endocrinologist told me when I had gestational diabetes. He wanted me to test my overnight fasting blood sugar. It was usually high. He explained to me that this was because as your blood sugar dropped at night your liver would release glucose to try to even it out, but because I’m insulin resistant my body would not use that glucose efficiently and my fasting blood sugar was high. So I have found, using ketone urine strips (yes I know these aren’t ideal but it is what I have right now), during the day I have a pink on the urine strips indicating I’m throwing ketones, but when I get up in the mornings I am not throwing ketones. The strip does not change color. I have not gone over my carb count the day before, actually I’m usually well under it. But I am not losing any weight at all and as I said when I test with the urine stop no ketones are present. Could my liver still be producing night time glucose? I don’t know if that makes any sense at all. Ideas? Do I just not understand how ketosis works and I’m getting it all wrong? Are there any really detailed write ups (not YouTube videos or podcasts) that explain in detail how ketosis works? Thanks so much.
Ketosis question, please help me understand

Doubtful, what’s probably happening is that your body is burning them, so not enough are present to change the color. What your doc was talking about was glycogen release from the lîver. If you’ve been following a lipolytc macro, you shouldn’t be carrying much stored glycogen. You’re fine.
