The following study found some exciting results regarding the effects of ketosis on cancer.
Keto's potential anti cancer benefits
More ammo for Dr Seyfried.
Why aren’t all cancer patients told ‘Hey you could try this diet’? Your eating food anyway, why not try different food! what’s to lose?
I think this is blindingly obvious: we know that most (not all) cancers feed on glucose. Cut down (dramatically) the glucose supply, what’s the cancer cell going to feed on? It needs energy to grow (defining characteristic of a cancer cell: it grows out of control), and its main/normal source of energy is glucose.
The question for me is whether the body creates glucose for cancer cells when it performs gluconeogenesis. I am guessing it does a bit, but not a lot. The body will not be swimming in glucose because GNG is demand driven: it will have just enough. But is “just enough” including the demand from cancer cells? Don’t know. Does a cancer cell’s glucose demand get communicated to the liver effectively? I would love there to be some research on this.
If I got cancer, I would be doubling down on carnivore, being far more strict, and removing all sources of glucose from my diet. I would also be on a fasting routine. I would be trying everything in my locker to avoid spending time with doctors or hospitals. Deadly places.
Billions a year is spent on cancer research: is even a slither of that money being spent on dietary solutions?
I’m supposed to be having a biopsy on a suspicious skin lesion, I had it a bit before I went on keto, but it’s almost disappeared now, they won’t find much to biopsy! Wonder if it could be down to keto?!
I am betting it would. But we will never know for sure. But the most important thing for you is that you’ve found a way to reduce/remove it.
I think I have some potential “pre-cancerous” spots on my head: that’s what the doctors have called them in the past. I have had one or 2 lasered off a few years ago. I am trusting that carnivore is starving any potential cancer and I am also moisturising with a self-made beef fat based moisturiser.
No harm in trying a Keto diet. Dr Thomas Seyfried thinks it’s a good idea. And he’s got enemies so he must be right!
The bit I always remember is cancer cells need glucose for energy.
