Ketonix breath analyzer?

(Jodi) #1

MI just received my last month still trying to figure it out! I have a newest version . I set the ranges for nutritional Ketosis- 4.0 for green then 40 yellow then 80 red.

I find my numbers are running about 6.0 in am then drop the rest of the day? I thought ketones should be higher at night? I have been Keto for almost a year but still ? Not sure if I have done it right- any insight??

I am still getting to grips wth mine too. Have you got the new manual? I haven’t checked the website lately but they sent me the new one as the info on the website was not correct for the new devices. You can change the colour settings depending on why you are measuring - so sport, normal, etc. I just tried to upload the manual but the file was too big. If it is not on the website just email them and they will send it to you.

I just left mine on the setting profile for weight loss.

I just did mine - I blew a 10.8 (Yellow)

Not sure if I am replying correctly–

I download the manual from the site and watched the tutorials – I register 5.0-7.0 in the am then drop low to 2.0 -4.0 at night ?! Can figure out why or what is dropping my ketones?? I do exercise and have been Keto for over a year - ( don’t eat anything non- Keto that I am aware of) ??!

I read Somewhere on the Ketonix website that 4.0 and above was nutritional Ketosis ? Not sure if that’s for the new version?

(Cathy Schroder) #6

I’m finding it difficult to make any sense of my readings. I know that blood ketones don’t necessarily correlate with ketones in the breath, but the Ketonix indicated that I wasn’t in ketosis at all, at the same time that my blood had a reading of 2.6.

(Jodi) #7

Did you calibrate ? How long have you been Keto?

(Cathy Schroder) #8

I did calibrate and I’ve been Keto for about five months now.

I would really like to know the official ranges for nutritional Ketosis on the new one-- I think I will contact Ketonix support - I will let you know

(Jodi) #10

My levels only running 2-4-seams low but they say as your body becomes more effiecent using ketones they are lower-- hope I’m not eating something that is kicking me out

I just got one for my wife & having a hard time figuring it out. Does anyone know the range for being in Ketosis? Also what is the range for being Keto/Fat Adapted?

(đ૯αท ʍ૯ઽƬѳท) #12

I’ve heard between 4 and 30 is good

(Jim David) #13

Will the Ketonix confirm if you are fat adapted? If so, is there a level or level range that would indicate that? Thanks!

(đ૯αท ʍ૯ઽƬѳท) #14

That question is probably best directed to the Ketonix company.

I would assume that if you are fat-adapted you are producing ketones and therefore blowing a higher reading but I’m not an expert on it yet as I only got mine just before Christmas.

I’m blowing readings between 10 and 25.

I contacted Ketonix support about the readings for nutritional Ketosis but haven’t heard back yet-- I will let you know when I do

Cool thanks.

From the tutorial on the website, breath acetone correlates well to blood sugar levels. Therefore seems to be highest after fasting. My level are a little lower after eating meals and get higher hours after a meal.

In general i have found that i discard the first attempt as its normally a low number (i don’t think i get the last of the breath out on the first try) but attempt 2 and 3 are usually higher and more consistent.

I only blow out the last quarter of my breath into the sensor gently and i push the last of the breath out. This way i don’t feel like I’m going to pass out.

Readings are altered for about 18 hours post alcohol consumption so i wait until after lunchtime if I had a drink the night before.

Food alters readings for about 45 minutes so i wait until then.

Its a good device once you get used to using it correctly get your technique worked out. Keep persisting until you get consistent readings!

How many breaths does everyone blow in?

(đ૯αท ʍ૯ઽƬѳท) #19

Gently blow until your lungs are empty.

Each test is from one exhale and don’t breathe in before, you’re just trying to get the air from the base of your lungs into the meter.

This video that’s buried on their site also says to test a few times in 20 minutes to get a better idea.
