Ketone levels to high after 15 days?

Hello there,

So I have started a keto diet, mainly as a curiosity and to burn some fat. I did loose some weight even if it wasn’t my primary goal. I lost lean tissue however. But that’s not the reason of my post.

So I’m 177cm for now 63kg. I started the keto diet on the 5th of May. I bought the device to test my blood.
The reading hit 1.3 on the 9th after wakeup, fluctuated then hit 2.1 on the 13th fluctuated, once hit 3.3 at 7PM. Yesterday, after a long walk, I passed the 4.0 mmol line. At wakeup I was at 3.2 and right now just before lunch I am again at 4.1…

I eat 2100 calories (which I will increase to about 2300 with an increase in protein) and am about 5% carbs 20% protein and 75%.

I fear this is too high? I saw a diagram that says that I’m actually in keto starvation…
It’s only been 15 days since I’m doing this and I fear that at this pace I’ll enter ketoacidosis soon???

Does the body control that automatically? Do I need to increase my carb intake to decrease the ketones?
As I do some fitness, I’m also looking at the possibility to do 1 day carb intake… (cyclical ketognic diet…)…

I’m a little bit lost and confused and was wondering if anybody had similar experiences. Is a continuous 4 mmol reading bad and am I doing some bad things to my body?

Thanks for any feedback.
Paul

Are you a type 1 diabetic? If not, then you have nothing to worry about.

Research is your friend.

You’re fine don’t stress…
I’m currently fasting and the last time I did it my ketones got up to 6.1 you are well within the bounds of nutritional ketosis.
