Ketogenic diets and aging

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #1

A recent study in mice:

all fed the same calories

  • control group
  • low carb but not ketosis
  • zero carb ketogenic diet

Longevity was improved in low carb and was best in the ketogenic diet.

Some other takeaways:

  • a lower presence of tumors at death in keto mice
  • keto mice showed improved healthspan on a number of tests (memory, motor function, strength)
  • lower inflammation markers in keto mice

Much though I would usually shout the benefits of this from the rooftops… I’m just not a mouse…

I have no idea why “scientists” continue with mice studies the results are rarely (if ever) repeatable in real humans so why bother… let the mice go free!
