Ketofest 2018: it might not happen!

ketofest

(Nick) #1

So, we have three days to push Ketofest over the end-line. The Dudes have kindly invited me to speak again at this year’s event, and I have a couple of talks in mind, both of which I think keto folk on this forum will enjoy! More importantly, amazing people like @amber et al are going to be talking as well.

At least, they will be, if it goes ahead. So even if you can’t be in New London this July, buy your streaming pass and let’s make this event a fixture on the keto calendar!

I’m nowhere near the east coast, I’m on the opposite side of the country.

(Nick) #3

And I’m at the opposite side of the ocean. So?

#4

How far you’re willing to travel isn’t the same as my willingness to travel, I suppose. :stuck_out_tongue:

(Liz ) #5

I’m going to head over to the site

As soon as I get home and pledge for a Tshirt since I cannot attend

(Nick) #6

I guess not. Still, you could get a streaming pass and not travel at all.

But I suspect this isn’t really about travel at all, and more about a reluctance to contribute back to the ecosystem the Dudes created. That’s ok. Must folk are and always will be freeloaders; but at least have the pride to admit it

(Don) #7

Wow! In jest or not…I think that is a comment that could have been left unsaid. I myself am on the fence of contributing to the streaming option. But with comments like these I’m kind of wondering. Everyone has their own priorities.

#8

We only need 4 people to buy 2-day tickets, or 5 people to buy 1-day tickets, or 10 people to buy streaming tickets!

It would be so sad if this didn’t get funded.

(Nick) #9

You have every right not to contribute. And I have every right to judge people who never pay things forward. That’s the joy of freedom of thought!

(Don) #10

You do have the right. But you also can use a little discretion and not say the first thing on your mind. If your idea to get people to contribute is to shame them, then I’m sorry to say most people don’t respond well to that kind of behavior. I come here to get good information and to not be judged. If I or anyone else wants to contribute that is our business. I consider your comments rude and if you don’t see an issue with what you have said, then you have some bigger issues. I won’t be responding to this thread anymore. I hope you have a wonderful day and hope your address at Ketofest goes well.

(Nick) #11

You come here to take information, not pay it forward. And I come here to judge you for such behaviour.

Freedom, again, is lovely, ain’t it?

(L. Amber O'Hearn) #12

Nick’s playing with you. He’s practically a communist. He used to pester me to consider publishing my book with a Creative Commons license so no one who needs the information will be deprived for lack of funds.

(Nick) #13

“The people’s flag is deepest red [meat]” :musical_note:

#14

Well this thread got hijacked

#15

Lol, you’re a feisty one. I was thinking about the streaming pass, but you just talked me out of it with that rude & disrespectful response.

(Sophie) #16

I was also considering the streaming pass since I can’t afford to go up north on a separate trip this year, but considering the way you have presented yourself in this thread, I’m not spending a dime of my hard earned money on anything you have to say. You obviously have a lot to learn about marketing. Too bad Ketofest will suffer for the sake of one loose cannon.

#17

Amen. If this is the type of people we’re going to pay money to watch online, then I’ll pass.

(Karen Ogilvie) #18

More bacon bar for me and Nick.

But it’s still going to get funded and it’s going to be a blast. See you there! Or not.

#19

Can we all play nice in the sand box, children?

(Steve Stephenson) #20

But, Nick, you have no idea whether a person is doing their part to “pay it forward”. There are other options, like Patreon or occasional contributions or working to spread the word on social media or personal networks of friends and neighbors.

So in my mind, in a free society, everyone has the responsibility to inform themselves fully before they jump to making incendiary deleterious comments about other people. The word “civility” comes to mind.

Through my ongoing DietDoctor membership I watched the entire Low Carb Breckenridge 2018 Live Stream. So Live Stream should be a great option for those who cannot go to KetoFest.

You can choose to not watch Nick’s presentation; while still attending in person or by Live Stream. You’re hurting your own Keto education by not attending.

If you come in person, I’ll see you there!
