Keto Returner After 8 month break

#1

Hi everyone,
I did it alone last time… this time… no thanks lol

I don’t usually use forums for anything anymore but took a shine to this one :grinning:

I’ve always been thin, but epilepsy drugs made me put on a stone in weight in a very short time, that was 5 years ago and my body fixed at that new weight despite stopping the meds.

I started Keto last year on my own and lost the 14lbs that i wanted to lose to get me back to my normal 100lbs (i’m 5’ 2” tall and been naturally that weight my whole adult life)

I stupidly went back on the bread and 4 sugars in my tea (yes 4) and weight wise, it didn’t really creep up… then my partner went on sick from work so we were seeing each other every day. Once i started eating the same amount as him, i’m back up to that 114lbs again :rage:

Sooo… starting again, last time was great as i had macro counter apps to use, but i don’t have any apps on my phone now and too lazy to count everything.

But unlike last time i now have a blood ketone monitor so better at monitoring.

I’m now on day 6. I went into the start of ketosis on day 2, had the keto flu on day 3 but apart from that no other hideous symptoms like last time.

By day four i was in the 3.0 to 3.5 range and ever since i’ve been hovering between 1.0 to 1.7 and it seems to be staying there.

Lost only 2lbs so far but haven’t started IF properly yet which i did last time.

Weight aside Keto helps some of my symptoms too so i’m hoping to stick with it this time (ME/CFS, daily severe migraine for 20 years but started at age 4, hole in heart and disautonomia which means i can’t stand up for very long before i black out)

I’m looking forward to reading of people’s experiences. It’ll be nice not to be so alone this time :hugs:

Welcome!

This place is great for support and not feeling so alone in your journey.

Recipe for failure.
Why bother testing blood ketones if you aren’t even going to monitor the food you eat?
Then you will be left with a bunch of results and scratching your head.
It’s advisable to track

While i agree, i’m not going to buy a new phone just to be able to use keto apps again.

I’m eating the same foods as last time and staying in ketosis, thats good enough for me.

I don’t have a calculator out for every meal, that doesn’t mean i’m not recording what i’m eating.

If anyone knows of a good website that isn’t an app, that calculate’s the macro’s, that would help.

TBH, I’m pretty impressed you could even drink that.

Fantastic, thanks @juice I’ll join up now, and hope it doesn’t try to force me into their app. It’ll be lovely to have full control over macros again.

PS. The 4 sugars in the tea always horrifies people lol. I did it for 30 years.

Thanks again.

I very rarely use the app, just the website on PC (which is pretty much where I live, in front of this thing).

Already signed up and using it :grinning: thanks again @juice It looks good!
