Keto Protein Powder?

#1

Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent Keto Protein Powder? I would like to consume a pwo - post workout shake, mainly isolate fast absorbing protein. There are typically no fats in these. Something you mix with water and go.

I notice some of the low carb options use sucralose - should I avoid?

Thanks in advance for any all help!

I have tested myself after eating pure sucralose and splenda (sucralose sprayed on dextrose). Pure sucralose caused no glucose spike, Splenda cause a mild one.

I’m not sure it would be classified as keto but I use Isopure plain…whey isolate with zero carbs. It mixes easily and tastes great.

I use Dymatize ISO-100 in Gourmet Chocolate. I usually mix with water, MCT oil, and heavy cream… super tasty and 2 carbs (1 net)

I second the Dymatize

I haven’t tried it yet but have been meaning to get some ,so can’t give a review but you could try,EAS Myoplex ketogenic powder, looks like they sweeten it with stevia and monkfruit, try some and give us a review, I think I will order some also

Used this for some time, NOW Foods Whey Protein Isolate, 100% Pure 5Lb. Can be found on Amazon.com for around $50. Its very good and very clean with almost no flavor. Checkout the ingredients:

Honestly I havent used much protein powder in QUITE some time as its healthier and usually pretty easy to get all our protein from whole foods but when I do use protein, this is the one for me. Not quite sure if we are allowed to post direct links but I’m sure a moderator will let us know. Below is the link to the Amazon.com listing- power to Amazon Prime!:

What would make a protein powder ketogenic? I would imagine protein powder is, at best, orthogonal to keto and at worst contrary. Wouldn’t the question really be “Which protein powder is the least non-ketogenic”?

Dr Nally and Jimmy Moore are working on one. It should be out shortly on their site.

(Danielle) #10

I was about to mention is too. They one they have developed is supposed to be high in Fat?

(Stephanie Hanson) #11

That’s what Jimmy has said a couple times in his podcasts. I’m looking forward to it.

#12

Yes, he mentioned lower in protein, higher in fat. TBH though it kind of goes against what he said in the same podcast I was listening to that he always advocates eating real food rather than supplements and powders.

#13

agreed. i think us common folk translate this to mean which is lowest in carbs, least likely to throw us out of ketosis, and least likely to spike insulin.

#14

looks good. I stick with unflavored because it gives me more options. i always add my whey to coffee for a preworkout…sometimes I want vanilla or chocolate or even pumpkin spice. with unflavored I can flavor it how I want it.

1 scoop to 200ml of a high fat coconut cream maybe a tiny bit of water… Its pretty much 50% / 50% protein to fat… Tastes sooooo dam good!

(Larry Lustig) #16

That wouldn’t be protein powder, would it? It would be fat powder.

(Danielle) #17

Very true. It might be a nice alternative for the people that still like to use protein powder and do the ketogenic lifestyle.

If you want a protein/fat combo, take your favorite protein and add MCT powder at your favorite macro %l level. This is the only MCT powder I have found on the market. Anyone have others?

I wonder how they do it without maltodextrin (how you usually turn oils into powders)

(Fernando Aramburo) #20

Magic? haha! I haven’t found any other powder MCT on the market.
