Keto noob and lack of hunger

(Mandy) #1

Hi all,

Finishing my first week on keto. I haven’t experienced any terrible side effects other than what I think was a small headache. One thing I am noticing, I’m rarely hungry for breakfast or lunch. I know I should still probably eat but is this normal so early? Also, yesterday I went over what loseit says should be my calories for the day. As a long time calorie counter, I knew I could essentially bank calories if I had a deficit one day of too much. Right or wrong, that’s how my brain worked and it worked for me, for many years. I suppose my question is, can eating more fat/calories yesterday play a big role in my hunger today? Should I still meet my goals even when not hungry? I’ve also been testing my ketones and today, it appears a fairly dark purple on my test strips. I’ve been staying under 20 net carbs/day. All this coming from a background of not exactly being a carboholic when starting this journey. thanks for reading.

Usually takes most people 4-6 weeks to lose the hunger. Enjoy it!

Nope, stop eating when not hungry, eat when hungry.

Yup, very much so. If I am going to intentionally fast for a few days I will overfeed the day before to reduce the initial hunger pains.

Thanks Allan. Good information to have for sure. I could have eaten an elephant the day before and still been hungry the day after… Before this keto week. Ha. Definitely new to me!

I’m a emotional eater stress etc…I fight this at night time.some nights I’m ok some I’m bad.
I find drinking water is filling.I was not a breakfast eater either but changed that.I do keto coffee wait then do breakfast. Or brunch
