Keto is Freedom
I donât crave any of this stuff. Beer was the big offender for me, so when I quit drinking, that got rid of the beer. Thatâs really the core basis of my story.
I feel free because I donât think about food constantly⌠or what my next meal is⌠I donât crave anythingâŚ
I used to always think about what I was going to eat or not eat so I could somehow shed a few pounds⌠Keto is Freedom for me
I was just there, in the line at the register, not having eaten anything today but coffee in the morning and the feeling of freedom is fantasticÂĄ Itâs almost 5 PM and all is well, not cravings and alert for working a couple hrs more :o) Congratulations!
Do I ever! I am within 2 pounds of my goal over the last three weeks, in the past I would have given in from frustration - not this time! Cravings are gone, I am no longer a slave to food. I agree, great feeling to be set free.
Hi Richard. Happy that you are cured. I hope that you csn help me. I have had high blood pressure for almost 20 years and for 8 months I have been diagnosed T2D. I started keto 2 month ago and everything was ok until about a week ago.My fadting BG is 120 but the rest of the day I am ok. Its around 85-90. My before bed is slso the same. I am not on any medication now. I have checked my 3am BG it was around 105.
I can not find a keto specialist in my country to get help from. Even my BP was good for 1.5months. But now its kinna 13/9. Am I having dawn phenomenon or waning insulin? What can I do about to fix both my BF & BP. My macro is 10g carb, 54g protein and 90g fat. I weigh 59 kg now. My height 160. Thank you.
You neednât worry about the dawn phenomenon. It happens and will continue to happen. You can read mountains about it by using our search utility. Your HbA1c is the number to watch, and after 3 months keto it should be much lower.
The same goes for blood pressure. You are not the first one here with HBP, and âhelp will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask.â I know magnesium supplementation does a lot to lower BP, you just have to use the right kind(s) and avoid âdisaster pantsâ (the laxative effect). Make certain you are NOT cutting salt because of your BP - you need the salt to process your fat, AND salt regulates magnesium in the body.
Now, go forth, use the search engine, and read, read, read! If you canât find what you think you need, I suggest you start a new topic under Newbies so it wonât get lost, and give all your current stats, what you eat daily, etc. so we can see whatâs going on. Good luck!
Thank you very much. Its a great help. But this morning my fasying blood sugar is 96 at 3pm and 96 at 7:30am. I am still controling my BG. Th as nks again
@Plag Patty, for what it is worth, we have found Ketogenic foods can be very, very tasty and delicious.
Great info! I have been trying to look into why my lower legs blow up (get really swollen) when I add extra salt into my diet. Unless I exercise a lot and get LOTS of sleep 8+ hours/night, they just stay big. They will go down, but go right back up. Iâm hoping itâll get better over time. Iâm taking 400 mg of magnesium citrate 2x/day morning and night and no loose stools, but also my bp is rising steadily every month. Am I that deficient? Yikes. Anyway, Iâm keeping an eye on things but not sure how to proceed. I feel like I need to ef fast 5+ days and more for like ever, now. Thatâs when things started looking up. Last time I did an EF though, it was 4 1/2 days long (meant to be 5 days but stopped early), and it was so stressful. I was nervous, edgy, too hungry too often but I did water only. I didnât supplement with any pink himalayan salt because of the swelling issue. I didnât get into a strong ketosis state until the 4th day but then stopped. I messed up though quitting early. I was going for a dr check up three days from then but it wasnât going to include blood work, just vitals and a talk. I somehow thought it was blood work month. Anyway thatâs why I stopped. I wanted to give myself 3 days âoffâ fasting for the blood work. This whole past month I have not ef fasted, just IMd. It IS hard to be patient. I go each day, and feel like itâs a whole week and that something needs to be happening faster.
I would experiment more with your salt level - a friend of mine started keto and she had some swelling problems that went away when she increased her salt intake. Some people have a ârangeâ they must stay in - go lower, you get swelling, go higher, you get swelling. There is a delicate electrolyte/water balance we all must find.
I think I have messed with it enough for now, and come to the conclusion that I shouldnât go out of my way to up my sodium intake. I think the salt from seasoning my food is probably good enough, and I donât over season with salt. But I do allow myself to not skimp on the salt like I always used to. April is blood work month so I will see whatâs what then.
I still get cravings, not so much for bread or candy or pastries. Mostly, I get cravings for things like deviled eggs, broccoli, or spinach. I donât mind giving in to those kinds of cravings. Who knows, maybe itâs my body telling me something. (?) I could live with that.
I had the same experience. I couldnât understand why it was still happening (albeit less often) after being on keto for so long. I knew I needed more salt with keto, but was still wary of too much salt from the ingrained standard medical advice we all hear. After listening to the Salt Fix podcast, I upped my salt and that has resolved it for me.
That same sort of thing happened to me in a grocery store. I was trying to decide which sweetener to use. All the bags of Splenda had maltodextrin in it. Some it it even had sugar mixed in with it . Another shopper made a comment about how to choose. I took that as an invitation to speak, âwell, I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. It took me about 4 months to cure it. And since I donât want to go back to it, I need to be a little careful not to eat certain foods or additivesâ. The lady just stood there for a few minutes staring at me. Like I just kicked her dog. I could feel the stare, it was that strong. I walked around the next aisle. She came around the other end and walked right up to me. âYou said you cured your diabetes??!?!? You mean you just stopped taking your meds right?â So I got to explain how I did it. The lady had never heard of Keto, ketogenic, nor even LCHF or HFLC any of it. All she knew was she should be eating 6 meals a day, full of fruits and veggies and bread and cereals. It was like telling someone who believed the world was flat, and showed them how to see it for themselves.
I saw her once more weeks later. I recognized her right away, but I had shaved, so I looked a lot different. I did notice that she Harv lots of bacon, eggs, cheese, pepperoni, celery⌠nearly everything in her cart was Keto. The exception was those kids lunchables. That contain about 400 calories of carbs .
Ok, got verbose again, sorry
TL;DR
Donât be afraid to speak up. Whatâs the worst that can happen. They think you are a nutcase. But on the hand, you might just save a life.
I gotta say it is a great feeling!! I made a vanilla chocolate mocha cake and cornbread the other as per a request from my hubby, and I was not at all tempted by either one!! Donât get me wrong I am an excellent baker so they were aesthetically beautiful lol, but I didnât even for a second want to taste either one!!! Itâs been a really long time since I have been able to say that!!!
