Keto & Intermittent Fasting gained back weight

(Joel) #1

Hey guys, relatively new to keto and IF. I started at 234 lbs and was losing weight pretty consistently. I got down to 203 lbs last weekend, but weighted myself today at 207 lbs. I’m not sure what caused this spike. My macros and IF is
Carbs: < 30g (do we count net carbs from fiber?)
Protein: 115 g
Fat: 230 g (I think)
IF: 23:1 or 20:4 if I’m extra hungry.
I live at college so I have a consistent supply of salad and all beef burger patties. Could I be eating extra carbs unknowingly or am I doing something else wrong?

I often find my weight fluctuates for no reason. I look back at my change over the past 4 weeks…

Most likely salt, or something else causing water weight gain. It’s unlikely you overate 14,000 calories in so short a time.

When hams are one sale and I buy one, I can gain 15 lbs. In a day or two… All water.

Hmmm thanks guys. Hopefully it’ll blow over soon.

Is your protein a bit high ?

Sounds like your weight loss is going well … just KCKO I say. A bit lower fat intake could spur burning more of your own fat vs ingested fat.

You know I’ve wondered that myself. I got those numbers from some random keto calculator site. I’ll try cutting back and see what happens. Thanks man

Weight loss isn’t linear, so long as the overall trend is downward as the months progress you’re doing just fine. Watch for the NSV’s and clothes fitting better.

It took me awhile to figure this out, but for myself going back to eating 3 meals a day, I gained weight. However, instead of gaining and losing all the time, I found that I could stay lean just by fasting 2 times a week, one day without eating (36 hrs). Otherwise, over time I will gain 10 pounds or more eating 3 meals a day.

I would try about a 1/3 of that protein and see what happens.
