Keto in Vegas and rockin it!

(Maria) #1

Been in Vegas for four days and this WOE is great for vacationing! IF and keto allowing for no hunger all day while site seeing and gambling, at nite enjoying keto meal heavy on the fat. Keeps me from burning thru cash on junk all day. Loads of energy for this town, too.

I could sit at the poker table for 12 hours… coffee and heavy cream the whole way!

Do you have any favorite spots to eat keto in Vegas? I’m always looking for travel ideas now that I’m keto, and Vegas has always been one of my favorite vacation spots.

Well just about every casino has a prime rib or steak special. We put that with a salad and either skip the baked potato or load it with butter and sour cream for a few bites. Specifically tho we have eaten at second street grill in Fremont street casino (excellent), magnolias (4 queens) and aria Mediterranean. I don’t like buffets. I can’t eat enough to make it worth while and too many temptations.

Good to know! Hubby and I are also in Vegas just finished our first week. We will have to scout some of these casino specials.

@DaveKeto is in the Vegas area. @richard and I are thinking Vegas might be a great place for a future Ketofest

(Dave) #7

@RiHill - Oh yes, I’m actually very spoiled here in Vegas as they fall all over themselves to serve you in whatever specific way you order your food.

Moreover, I have seriously eaten the best steaks of my life here as well. However, this has changed since I perfected my grassfed ribeye at home. Mmmmmm…

(Dave) #8

@Bahrutile - I’m a very avid poker player myself and even have my own poker room. I suppose I’ll have to fire it up for a night if we get #Ketofest2018 rolling up in here.

@carl

There is one caveat I should’ve thought to mention earlier – you should shoot for holding a Vegas Ketofest in either the spring or fall when the temperature is just perfect (and almost never any rain or other weather). July is probably the warmest month of the year here and wouldn’t be as outdoor friendly.

Definitely Fall

As a Vegas local, I have to agree with @DaveKeto…so many amazing restaurants here. I feel like it’s easier here than most places to eat keto without anyone noticing. Pick a steakhouse, go to town. (Dirty martinis are keto, right?)

(MakinBacon) #12

Yes!!! It’s only a 4 hour drive from me, also only about 4 hours from Los Angeles, has a major airport, and plenty of accommodations. Perfect for a west coast ketofest!

We just had a fabulous burger at Bobby’s Burger Palace ( Bobby Flay). Grass fed burger with blue cheese and bacon. It was awesome! I said no bun, they didn’t even blink and asked if I wanted it on a bed of lettuce.
I live in the liberal town of Madison Wisconsin where low-carb is very common too. We are both lucky.

Vegas is a practical location

(Dave) #15

I LOVE Burger Palace.

And just an FYI - there are at least a half dozen places that have a grass-fed burger. Pure awesomeness.

(Dave) #16

One nice thing is that it is cheap to fly here round trip. This is due to the casinos literally subsidizing travel here to increase circulation of tourism. It’s pretty handy for all my friends and family coming to visit.

(Dustin Cade) #17

@chandra-lah doesn’t like Vegas though I think something like this might get her back out…

(Dave) #18

OH and I almost forgot – Echo and Rig!!!

They are both a butcher shop and a full restaurant and ALL their meat is grass fed and freak’n delicious!!!

that is about how far from the strip? next time i might go all by my self, fast the entire time, play cards… just let poker rush over me haha

(Dave) #20

It’s a ways away from the strip, but only in “Vegas distance” – probably 20 minute ride by Uber.

You shouldn’t visit Vegas as a keto-er and NOT go to Echo and Rig at least once.
