Ok. So I love to chew on ice cubes… always have. Day 2 of a fast and I’m sitting here crunching away when suddenly, inspiration strikes! I have lemon extract in the cupboard from Christmas! So I filled the food processor with ice, added 1/2 tsp extract and 1 tsp sweetener and whirled! It’s yummy and a welcome alternative to tea, coffee, and water!
Keto ice
Sounds delicious!!! I had a hankering for ice chewing when I was low on iron.
Looks tasty…
Want to share a caution from personal experience. Chewing ice cubes can be hard on your teeth. I ended up with micro-fractures in mine from chewing ice, which led to a root canal. I don’t chew ice cubes any more.
Shaved ice, however…hmm…may have to try this. I’d imagine that this, plus some heavy cream and sugar free coconut syrup would be awesome.
It actually is! Though I think 1/4 extract would have been enough and 1/2 sweetener. I think I’ll be browsing extracts next time I hit the spice isle!
OMG! I bet you’re right! Or keto chocolate sauce! With orange extract instead of lemon… geez. You’re killin me! Haha😋
I’d always be trying to educate your palate away from requiring sweet taste, even from artificial sweeteners. Not everyone agrees with this though.
Indeed, not everyone does. And I think there’s significant variation from person to person. For those who experience cravings when they consume sweets, or for whom sweets appear to slow or stall their progress towards their goals, your advice is good. And ultimately, none of us really NEED sweets, so there’s no harm in the advice.
For others, carry on!
Completely agree, actually! I really have no trouble going without sweets…it’s bread and crackers that mess me up! But, it was a moment of inspiration and thought I’d see how it turned out. Pretty good, actually!
enjoying or craving crunching on ice can actually be a sign of iron deficiency just fyi.
I’m not Dev, but I’ve had 3 in the last 2yrs and it didn’t hurt a bit! These days they don’t take any chances and seriously numb the hell out of you. And they send you home with a script for 7 days of happy pills. It’ll be a breeze, don’t sweat it.
Wasn’t as bad as I’d always heard. Not something I’d want to do again, if I can avoid it, though.
